People still talk about Matt Moore? The was on pace to turn the ball over more than the '09 Jake Delhomme.

It's not that I think clausen is a bust, it's just that I think he sucks and won't be a good pro. My stance has remained the same ever since last year's draft. I do NOT like Jimmy Clausen as my team's QB. There are infinitely better options out there, clausen is not "the best we have", that would be Moore, and no one is taking his side right now. If we were to go into next season with ANYONE as our starting QB with the current roster, it should be Matt Moore, not Jimmy.

I want to believe that Clausen will turn it around and become a good QB for us and I really hope that he will.

However, I saw very little from last season to put any faith in that.

Some guys have it and some guys don't. I saw no signs of Clausen having "it" last season. You can't teach a guy how to be a QB and a leader. You either are or you aren't.

The thing I don't understand is how last week, you people were all on the poo on Jimmy Bandwagon, then Zod comes in here and you all hop on his pole to agree with him in giving Jimmy another shot.

With your guys logic in this thread, I don't understand why more of you aren't willing to give Matt another shot. Matt has actually SHOWN promise, and SHOWN that he can be a capable starter. but since we wasted a second rounder on Jimmy, he DESERVES another shot.

It's amazing that since Saint Stanford decided to stay in school the anti-Clausen rhetoric has significantly declined, though still ever present. I, for the record,have been in the 'give the kid a freaking break' camp all season. One player, even a good QB, can't make shitty play-calling and injuries go away.

Frankly I think Matt Moore will get a shot some place, maybe even here, and if his shoulder is okay he'd have a real chance at starting for some teams in the end.

Matt Moore was an undrafted QB in 07.....and his 07 performance was MILES better than anything Clausen showed as a rookie. Moore wasn't in a better scenario than Clausen was this season.....definately not Clausen's last starts.

Doesn't address his shoulder injury, which is a major reason he may not come back. Clausen would never have started as many games as he did if not for the injury. In addition, as you said, Moore didn't exactly look good in his starts, so it is possible they decide they have seen the best of him and don't like what he offers, long-term, whereas Clausen still could turn it in around, as unlikely as that is. IMO, Moore has the tools to do well, and should get a chance to compete if his shoulder is fixed, I'm just not sure it will be here. It's clear they'll be bringing in competition for Clausen, so it's not as if they are putting stock in him as their only option either.

Bradford was the #1 pick and had an offense designed for him, which really is the most important part of it. Bradford would have looked miles worse in this offense through most of the year, too. But the numbers aren't my concern with Clausen and never were. It's his mechanics and his leadership abilities, which I thought weren't going to be an issue and clearly have been.
