American Idol

Don't get me wrong, I think her getting voted off was completely wrong, if you're going by "who is the best singer". Her and Jacob are easily the best "singers" and they were both in the bottom 3 (although Jacob mainly cause of his comment the night before I think). Pia bores me, but I NEVER expected her to NOT make it into the top 5.

This show hasn't changed in 10 years so none of us should really be THAT surprised. The last season I watched before this had that Sanjaya kid staying on week after week. When the fans vote, it's bad times, people are stupid, sadly. Think about things like sports All-Star games and whatnot, always bad times.

I wish they'd change the voting up. I wish the 3 judges had like 33.3% of the decision, the fans had 33.3%, and then the other 1/3 would be voters that are in the industry already, you know, real experts and artists/musicians. I mean, the judges are really just there for nothing once we get to Hollywood, make them do something now.

But also, don't feel bad for Pia. Honestly, don't feel bad for anyone that got face/singing time on national TV. That's the largest step for these kids. Just getting their face out there. If they seriously want to be recording artists, they can still go out and make something of themselves. Winning the competition is obviously NOT a given that they'll make it big. We've seen non-winners do just as well as the winners, and some winners do hardly nothing (still making a good living but you know). If Pia was destined to become something, she can still do it, and now she won't have the Idol's handpicked producers calling her shots. Sometimes it's best NOT to win here.

I have a feeling this may give more steam to Simon's new show. I have a feeling this is the kind of BS he wanted to get away from with Idol, and make it more about a singing competition (after that British lady exploded on the scene, who was older).

Pia will have a successful career, no doubt there. I agree that maybe the voting could be different, but in reality, it's the fans that are making the decisions...not a bad way to go. I blame the judges on this one a little. I think they realize Pia was very talented and tried to push her, just like they do to other contestants, but I think they were more negative than they had to be and less knowledgable fans voted based on what the judges thought.

Obviously, we all have different musical tastes and interests, but for me, Pia was an incredible singer and I could care less than she didn't command the stage etc. She looked good and sang great...that was enough for me.

    • Unfortunately you just can't get through to some of these folks. The most successful season in Panthers history our #1 WR was Ted Ginn Jr who had just as many bone headed drops as he did highlight touchdowns. We already have the highest paid OL in the league two years running. We need a balanced roster more than anything else clearly.

I think it would be like getting two for the price of one really allowing us to feel more holes getting a wide receiver and another spot filled for nothing but two or three draft spots.
    • I saw a mock draft where Monroe Freeling falls to the Panthers at 19 and if that happens they'd better rush their card to the podium.
