Smith Not Leaving Any Time Soon

I think in his heart Smith wants to remain a Panther. But I think he wants help. I think he wants to see reliable quarterback play. I think he wants other receivers to step up and take some pressure off him. I think he wants to be used in different and creative ways on offense.

Now it’s up to Chudzinski and his staff to find ways to use him and keep him happy.

I am with Smitty on this one 100%. Make the tight end a weapon, put Smitty in motion and mix things up a bit. We might try 4 receiver sets and an attacking passing style to make throwing the ball something other the recourse of last resort.

Nah.................

You guys act like its absolutely absurd to think it could happen. It most certainly can and does. Not with the panthers so much, they hold onto players for better or worse, sometimes too long. In fact, this articles flaw is the failure to recognize the Panther's ability to let their best players go for little or nothing or everything. Really at this point it should be up to Smitty, he deserves the respect to chose and either way he'll be competing, that is the way I see it.

    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
    • The fact that this is even a discussion is a testament of the level of front office badassery that's going on.
    • Not always. LT was for the Giants. So was Ray Lewis. Von Miller was moreso than Manning his final year in the season that shall not be named. It's usually the QB, but not always.
