If we stay at #1 I think we have to take Nick Fairley since we are so bad at DT. I wouldn't mind seeing us trade down 5-6 picks and get a 2nd round pick. That way we could get my guys Robert Quinn and Marvin Austin as our first two picks but that's just my UNC homer fantasy lol.

I'm going to reserve my judgment for after the combine and pro days. If Gabbert shows that he is an elite talent, that his footwork is good, that he is a capable leader then I think you have to make him the pick. If you think you can get him later then you can also trade down. I'm fine with either scenario.

none of this would show where he is weakest, which is under pressure.

people put far too much stock in the combine. it doesn't show what players do in real conditions, only under the most ideal, with no one coming at you.

i don't care how well he does at the combine. he should not be our selection.

We should learn from the Bobcats.

    • Even if he beats the odds, returns midseason  and plays like he did last year it won’t warrant a big contract extension.
    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
