Dan Morgan pre-draft press conference

I think Dan is hoping a team gives him an offer for #8. It feels like (as Mike Kaye just mentioned) there isn't "a guy" they really like at this spot, the top 5 blue chip players will be gone by the time we pick.

I just a Niner headline that they're looking to trade up for (speculated) Armand Membou. So if we trade back to them, 11 isn't that bad if we can get a 3rd this year  and a 2nd next year.

I do this so I can see it--but it is possible that we address every position group on the defense in this draft--:

OLB Edge:  Clowney, Wonnum, Jones, DRAFT PICK.

ILBs:  Jewell, Rozeboom, Wallace  DRAFT PICK

DE:  Derrick Brown, Robinson, Wharton,  DRAFT PICK

DT:  Brown III, Crumedy, Tuttle DAY DRAFT PICK

CB: Horn, Jackson (he he), Smith-Wade (nickel)  DRAFT PICK

S: Moehrig, Richardson, Scott, DRAFT PICK

This plus

RB(simply deep large pool)

TE('''' and need/want)

WR(need speed or fear)

that's Brandt's&Dan's 9 draft picks in a dream deal.

I can see them bypassing CB/NB in favor of two edges. 2026 needs starterS, this is the perfect draft. Chau Smith-Wade should be ready for NB duties, they waived vet troy hill for him.

Then put a bow on this class with another aggessive UDFA group. Be nice to land another Coker, rayum, and Richardson type of talents. Use teppers money and give out some 100,000 guarantees ....

I feel there is 15 open spots for the 53. 9 draft picks, 3 UDFAs, and 3 surprises/claims/2024 PSers/_____

Then you have your 2025 Carolina panthers!!!!

I would not expect a future starter from every pick in this draft. Most of those will be day 3 picks.

Most fans are just upset because they think XL made bryce look bad. Thats what it comes down too. If that was any other qb out there throwing balls and getting dropped by XL the energy wouldn't be as bad. XL performed pretty well for a guy picked at the bottom of the first round or second if there was no trade up. There should be no reason for fans writing him off after one year. Everybody knew the guy was a work in progress coming in so the anger is really about something else. If you read between the lines that what it is

Has nothing to do with Bryce for me.  I didn't like him before the draft.  He was supposed to be our #1 wr and was forced the ball and had what, 400 yards?  It would be different if he wasn't a 5 year college guy.  He's a panther either way and hopefully he improves.

It would work.  the question is, do we need an edge if we draft Walker?

Next season?  I don't think so.  He will be an edge mostly when it matters and they will platoon the others.  Now with edge being so deep if there is one in the 2nd or 3rd that they like, take them without hesitation.  Wonnum and Clowney probably aren't answers after this season.

I mean, most receivers don't necessarily break out their rookie season. It wasn't a good year, including injuries, and it may have dampened excitement, but didn't snuff it completely out, at least probably for most people.

I think he would be the panthers version of Luvu.  Just a bit more athletic and explosive.  True lb on run downs, Edge on passing downs.

Luvu drove me crazy sometimes with the over-pursuing. Walker's pursuit and tackling is truer. He's an exponentially better pass rusher as well. Walker ain't no joke out there. Admittedly I'm a Dawg, but Walker is a lot closer to Micah than Luvu. Bank it!

That's not gonna go do it. They're going to have to give us that pick 43.

Honestly, I think that we'll do better than that when someone wants to move in front of New Orleans for Sanders or Dart.

    • I think Bryce balls out again and the Panthers win in a close one.  Panthers will have a defender shadow CMC the whole game so I expect he'll be contained to under 100 yards.
    • yeah, Steve was basically like on any actual topic that approached his flaws/problems.....89 went with the long winded, try to sound like a wise man strategy of just basically just pleading the 5th (and sprinkling in the idea that others could of been wrong or wrong too).   also, in terms of the assaults and stuff like that....it feels like old 89, I feel has sort of forgotten his well-documented confessions and apologies about that aspect and era of his and was trying to re-write his story/image in hindsight.   And in all honesty, it seemed like a PR move on the twitter/cheating stuff also attempting to play himself as not the bad guy some think with the intentional vague suggestions. and the Pivot and all these athlete moves to basically take the reigns and power from traditional outlets exposes they have just as bad as flaws if not more often than the traditional media folks.  I mean I do like the free form long talk when dudes are telling stories but all this stuff is largely flawed and controlled PR often.
    • Sadly, I agree and I’m a huge Melo fan. Might be time to ship him out. Don’t want to make the same mistakes the Pels did. They should’ve gotten rid of Zion two years ago.
