One thing i think A.J. Green fans don't realize

grab a TE in FA or later in the draft, however, I think we have talent in Rosario and Barnidge.. pick up a DT in FA, and later in the draft.. QB won't be found, unless our scouting department and coaches really fall in love with someone.. CB, that's more important than DT at #1, but there are other options other than #1.. OG, go FA..

we still need a legit threat at WR that pulls double teams.. right now, we don't have that.. and we aren't trading away our future to draft Green, get it? :)

IMO plenty of options here...

Obviously no TE or OG @#1

TE: mid round/FA/ Barny?

OG: late round/FA

CB: Nnamdi/Cromartie/Peterson

DT: Fairley/Dareus/FA

WR: Green/mid round/Gettis/Lafell

QB: Jimmy/Moore?/FA

Not to mention we already know that there will be some top prospects at WR & QB coming out next year. Lots of flexibility here.

Nah, nvm...

IF WE DON'T DRAFT ____________ WE ARE DOOMED!111!!!!11!!1!!!

not sure what you're point is.. of course there are plenty of options..

which is why DT isn't a make or break for the Panthers at #1...

I think Gettis could end up being a very good WR for us. He has the raw skills if he can perfect his route running..the kid is as fast as anyone in the league. LaFell is also a nice talent in there as well. I definitely think that WR is a more promising position for us than say...QB. Bring us a TE to compliment those WRs and hopefully a QB too and we are back on the right track. That is why I am really really hoping that Gabbert shows more promise than his junior year showed.

We don't have a tight end...

We literally have been playing for 8 years without a pass catching tight end.

So I think our minds have been warped into forgetting that tight ends catch passes.

We have two promising sophomores and smitty. The team wants to "build through the draft" so it makes sense to let them continue to grow. They put up with terrible QB play and they didn't do too bad. Seems like a big diss to them as well.

Rivera seems to want a tight end. Because John Fox had nothing to do with tight ends that is now a glaring need. Doesn't matter how much you think they were under utilized.

Rivera seems to also like #11 and #12 as he called them.

I think the offense would be more balanced having a legit TE rather than a logjam at WR.

I'm not saying A.J. Green isn't worth the #1 or other things like that. But it seems like people are forgetting the offense requires tight ends now.

You guys sure do need a tightend......might be a good idea to talk to the Texans because we have 5 good ones and they are all young unless 28 is old..lol and that would be our probowl TE Owen Daniels. I can't understand us loading up on TEs but we have some good young ones. I can't understand why so many Panthers fans want AJ Green when you have two very good young WRs that are only going to get better....that is as soon as they get someone to throw to them.

Because while Gettis and Lafells look solid and are still improving, they've shown nothing to suggest they'll be legitimate #1 double-coverage-demanding threats. Green does look to be that receiver. Draft Green, forget about the WR position for the next 10 years. Concentrate on DT, CB, and QB in FA this year, reassess QB situation next year. That's the plan I'm hoping on.

I was listening to Moose on the radio and he felt pretty sure Steve Smith will not be back siting he wants to play for a team in contention.Having said that would it not make more sense to bring in a veteran to mentor the young talent we already have.I feel we can grab a FA WR versus spending the number 1 pick on one.

I want Green or Peterson. Fairley is a beast but is way too high risk/high reward for a #1 pick. I may change my tune after the combine and after some scouts really dig into his brain, but not until then. I don't doubt he will be successful in the NFL, but I want to know if he can become a leader on defense. Green is the Luck of the WR position and may be B.P.A. and the thought of Peterson developing into a Revis type player (he already appears to have the same mindset and work ethic as Revis) may be too good to pass up.

Disagree, we have 2 pass catching TE's, we just haven't used them.

Yup, I think Rivera is going to be pleasantly surprised to find we have two guys (Rosario, Barnidge) that are capable of being that all-around TE he's looking for... we just haven't used them that way for some unfathomable reason.

Remember the play Rosario made at the end of the Chargers game? (I'm sure Rivera does). Remember the play Barnidge made in the Giants game last year... it's like the new season started and Fox forgot all about that and it came down to who was the best offensive lineman...

To AJ Green supporters:

1. There is absolutely no guarantee with any player in the draft. Especially with WR's. So saying things like "AJ Green will absolutely demand double-coverage" or "Draft AJ Green and we're set at WR for 10 years" is just as ignorant as saying "Fairley will be Warren Sapp, no doubt" and I'm a Fairley supporter.

2. A lot of you keep arguing that we can address DT outside of the draft and that we don't need to go DT with our #1 pick...but why do we need to go WR with our #1 pick then? It's just as reasonable to think that we could address WR outside of the draft, or later in the draft, as well. Some of us don't think we need to do much to upgrade the WR position anyway...our WR's on the roster have shown infinitely more promise than our DT's on the roster.

whomp whomp whomp

there are other avenues for DT.. you haven't brought up any points against Green that doesn't exist for Fairley.. with that said, on even ground, GO GREEN!
