Was Rivera our 1st choice?

Apparently he's said it differently 3 different places.

ESPN sportscenter he called it opportunity.

http://scores.espn.go.com/nfl/scoreboard

Twitter he called it chance.

NFL report during NFL show he called it offer.

I'm done. Carry on.

What nobody called it was "head coach".

(nobody except this Colombian site, that is)

Bottom Line: Munchak was never in consideration for the head coaching job here.

"Titans OL coach Munchak appears to be the favorite to become the teams next head coach. He has already turned down three offers this year to take position with other teams which included the Carolina Panthers head coaching job, per Adam Schefter."

Now this would have been an interesting hire.....the Panthers had a deal on the table and were turned down....imagine if this hire had happened.....we would have a completely different outlook then....

What this really says to me is......Rivera was not the first choice and may not have been the second or third....

He wasn't even interviewed. How could he have been offered?

Adam is such a tool.

Per Schefter to me on some weird twitter message poo:

Because Munchack is SO FREAKING AWESOME that they didn't need to interview him for the HC job. We offered him 1,0oo0,o0,o,o0o,0,o0o0,o0,o0o,0o,0o,0o,0o0,o,0o0,o0,o,0o,0o,0o,0o,0o,0o,0o,0o,0o0o0o0o,o,0o,0o0,o0o0o,l0o0.54/yr and HE FREAKING TURNED IT DOWN. Now we are stuck with teh Riveras'ssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!1!!!111!!!!!

How can anyone claim they know exactly who the Panthers talked to or what went on, you guys work with JR in the stadium or something? Does he tell you all this and no one else? Rivera might not have been their first choice, that is very valid.

You guys all kill me thinking all coaches would want to come here and we went out and chose a lucky one to come here. Give me a break, it was probably a compromise of both things, who is best available and would also be willing to come here and work for someone like JR. Sorry but I doubt they go out and interviewed everyone that would be very best for the job and ended up with that lucky someone, it's stupid to think that any prospect wouldn't possibly turn down JR...lol. More likley JR went after the best of the more realistic prospects. What he is willing to initially pay already cuts a lot of coaches out.

I understand your all fans and homers but come on be more realistic. Fact is no one knows or ever will probably all of the processes they went through or if anyone declined before hand even an interview. Best thing to do now is accept and support Rivera and carry on.

but I guess the point is....the only thing a coordinator (not interviewed) could have declined was an interview......not an offer for the HC job

He said the following on ESPN, thus the quotes.

"Titans OL coach Munchak appears to be the favorite to become the teams next head coach. He has already turned down three offers this year to take position with other teams which included the Carolina Panthers head coaching job", per Adam Schefter

His titter is different, but you can rewind sportscenter from yesterday if you like and listen for yourself.

Okay okay..... all arguing aside. I have one question. Did you mean to leave out a "w"????

    • I did not, this reminds me of another live action type video game that never made it and has a huge cult following. Thanks for the 90s nostalgia frend!! My gods do I miss that era at USAs peak and it was my best on many aspects too.
    • Many layers my frend- Panthers had a draft recently. They picked 4 defense players. Each player picked 11, 22, 33, 55 as their number. For some players that number match the round or pre-draft round rank, example- Prince was a 3rd rounder and choose 33. Nic was a 1st rounder on some mock drafts and Dan Morgan said they had him as a 1st, he picked 11. Cam Jackson recently switched his number to 55, same as draft and has been telling Dave he wants to be special over and over.  The 44 was to add GOAT feels, thoughts, and more intrigue to this rookie phenomenon. X files cause it was a great TV show and maybe it was playing when this theory came together.......   I hope this helps!
    • The best things Purdy has are certainly important tools for any QB. His accuracy his timing his decision making etc. I feel like he is a high end Teddy Bridgewater. You can compete and win in the regular season with this especially in a weakened NFC but where his limitations come into focus is when you are trying to contend for a Super Bowl you are going against elite and in some instances generational QB's like Mahomes. And when the time has come for him to go up against Mahomes he simply can't get it done. Now certainly he is not alone in that regard and people will point to another highly regarded QB such as Josh Allen who also cannot get by Mahomes. But the difference I see is Allen is not IMO at a phsyical disadvantage in that matchup whereas Purdy is. And that is with what had been to this point a comically stacked roster around Purdy and let's be clear we cannot understate that regardless of which side of the fence we land on in this debate. Purdy has had a top 5 roster and a top 5 coach. And the last time they went to the Super Bowl they leaned on McCaffrey extremely heavily. Now with what they are having to pay him and divert limited resources elsewhere they face a steep climb to get back to the Super Bowl let alone actually win it.
