Getting a general one going in the main forum a week ahead of the draft. Take this all with a grain of salt.  This stuff usually ends up wildly different; but truths are peppered in.  

Notes as of late:

  • The common top-4, barring trades: 1-Ward, 2-Hunter, 3-Carter, 4-Campbell (I do wonder if NYG take calls)
  • Giants are seeing Shedeur once more but still sounds like they're leaning Carter (Maybe trading up from 34?)
  • Jeanty to the Jaguars is starting to pick up legitimate steam.  Vegas odds have dramatically increased, Brugler and a few others have switched him as their JAX choice at 5.  
  • If that happens, the Raiders could very well be eyeing Jalon Walker
  • Jets choice to come down to Graham vs. Warren vs. Membou (if all 3 end up available)
  • Panthers have been linked to both UGA guys, mostly Jalon Walker.  Buuut do wonder what happens if Graham is there.

Man it's gonna be real murky starting from pick to til our pick and depending on the vibe, we may be in a scenario of getting calls to trade up but I very well could see a trade back. If Sanders and Walker both get picked before 8... we are in a tough position if nobody wants to trade back.

Somebody will fall if that's the case and I think the Panthers like Mykel Williams enough to select him

I'm not so sure they do. I could be reading them completely wrong but I would be shocked if it's Williams. Membou would be a better selection over Williams if they are looking at the trenches. Williams needs a lot of development as a pass rusher. Dan is serious about production mattering in the end and Williams doesn't have it yet. It's one of the reasons they want to trade down. I seriously doubt they will be able to so it is going to be a wild 1st round.

I seriously doubt it, but if they want back in to grab Sanders, there is still a chance.  I see one or both trying to move back into the first to grab a QB---if the Giants, for example, could get Hunter or Carter, and move back into the draft and get Sanders---that would be a full draft in terms of value.  Guys on the hot seat who need to win NOW could do it.  Cleveland too.  You could argue that they have Wilson and Winston--I would argue that is a reason to do it.  I just think desperate men do desperate things, and Daboll and Schoen are desperate.

The Giants and Panthers have a front-office relationship evidenced in the Hard Knocks Burns deal.  It could happen....

But yeah, you are right.  I don't look forward to anything more than the Draft.  Something is bad wrong with me.

For reference, zone cbs need quick reaction time, smart angles, etc. Josh Norman ran a 4.67 40.  Barron is going to be the first CB taken, imo.

Did not know that about Barron, but a nickel is more valuable than it was 20 years ago---I watched some tape (video) and I really liked what I saw.  For us?  I would take Will Johnson, just not at 8--maybe 11 or after---

Barron can play big nickel, FS and outside. Just depends on what teams think he is. Could be a roamer type and fit a team like LAR or MIN. Could go as high as LVR if they don’t land Jeanty, as low as late R1 IMO

      The first two picks should be DT and OT. According to Daniel Jeremiahs top 50 this class is heavy on wr and O line, namely OT. I'm not sure if that helps us with edge rusher in round 1 as he turns around and has only 2 wrs taken in the top 20 with us taking 1 of them when he has 5 ranked in the top 20. He's all over the place with his mock draft so it's hard to take any rankings seriously at the moment.

      Jalen is the most productive receiver in the league per routes run. now obviously this is just routes run/total yards and the scheme can play havoc with this calculation but he’s in good company. Puca is number 2.  im not sure that x axis is relevant, but my god Metcalf is just getting mugged.     Per next gen stats Jalen reached the top speed in the playoffs. Newton’s first law of motion stays winning. Coker was also the best looking player on the field against the rams. To me he looks just like a young anquan boldin.  Coker made just over 830k in 2025. He is an Exclusive rights free agent in 2026. This means if the panthers tender him with a one year contract based on the league minimum, he has to play here or nowhere else. He’s not allowed (wink wink) to negotiate with other teams   In 2025 the ERFA was 1.03 million, or 3.1% what Joe person claims Bryce Young is worth annually. three years is the cutoff to become vested in the NFL pension, with higher benefits per year accrued after that. For those that have never heard of a pension, back in the day before boomers “two in the heart, one in the head’d” future generations, your job handled your retirement.  Three years of service also unlocks a whopping five years of health insurance; big deal for a player who still qualifies for his parents coverage. Great system, NFL. Roman gladiators were treated better. Electro, I just became a fan when Bryce got here and I can only name three people on the team. Why does this matter? NFL players don’t make money for very long. 40% never get a second contract. A season ending injury can happen at any moment, especially when your qb is a blimp commander who can’t see over the offensive line. Ickey was in line for a massive payday that he absolutely earned. He lost generational wealth (Chris rock joke here) with that patellar injury and who knows if he’ll ever play the same again. He’s certainly not going to get that new contract which is rough but it’s the way things go. Coker absolutely should not play another down for the Carolina panthers without a new contract. He just had a huge coming out on the national stage and has the numbers and tape to back it up. He's the best wide receiver on the team. Yes I know tet got (a very chintzy) thousand yards but Coker is pound for pound the better player. And that’s saying something because Jalen loves him some orange chicken. If he was a free agent this year he’d be the top WR on the market. Panthers have a lot of (honestly very easy) cap choices to make. For whatever reason they’ve already verbally committed to Bryce’s fifth year and are floating a three year extension. They’ve started hemorrhaging offensive linemen, soul of the team JJ Jansen will need his 1.4 million if he comes back, and of course you gotta lock down Leadership Council stalwart Christian Rozeboom. I would argue that instead of giving the worst qb in the league over the past three years another fuging dime you lock up and reward Jalen Coker. This shows the rest of the team that production is valued, regardless of draft position, and keeps Jalen in the building and team training program. Again, Jalen likes to eat. Will the panthers recognize this? I wish I could say the panthers head coach is good at evaluating wide receivers but….yeah. Also Canales let him clear waivers to begin with.       The padded practice restrictions have definitely impacted the game. 14 padded practices during the 18 weeks season and no more than one per week. That's crazy to me. But... As for Legette, he probably is in the best place possible to learn under those restrictions. But drills will only go so far. And it really isn't drills for him. It's knowing all the little intricancies of how to be a WR. That only comes from game experience, in my opinion. Being put in different situations at game speed. Hopefully he puts everything into this offseason. I'm cheering for him. This team needs him.
