Cowboys interested in Cam Newton??

The Dallas Cowboys. Yes, the same Dallas Cowboys who already have Tony Romo in the prime of his career on their roster.

Newton was asked about going to the Cowboys by reporters from WFAA TV in Dallas. His reply: "Jerry Jones, man he knows how to get hold of me, let's just say that," Newton says. Does that mean Jones has already talked to Newton?

Newton will have a chance to impress Jones and the rest of the NFL at the Combine next week. "Just as a whole, my opportunity right now, I?m just going to continue to work hard on trying to become the best player I can be," he told WFAA. "Whatever team gets me, it's going to be an honor in itself to be picked up and it's just going to be a dream come true."

Tim Cowlishah of the Dallas Morning News (and ESPN's Around the Horn) has seen enough. He says Newton would make a great replacement for Romo.

I'm not sure if they want him bad enough to trade up to get him, or how high they are willing to trade up. This definitely makes this interesting. I wonder how many other teams are interested as well.

This all stems from Cam Newton saying "Jerry Jones knows how to get hold of me." Blech.

I'd love if they fell for him and offered us some nice trades, but really? I just don't see it.

Its not of the realm of possibility. Romo is 31, and is coming off of a bad injury, and everyone knows about his playoff issues, or lack thereof.

True enough, and it'd probably be one of the best situations for Cam to be honest. Not just Romo, but another backup veteran too... He'd be allowed to come along slowly and could really become the icon he wants to be.

Now, we just need to find a way to sell the Cowboys on him...

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
