If my kid turned 4 million into 6 plus an endorsement deal and got his sisters college paid for and her some nil money I can't say I would scold him.

I believe she already had a scholarship at Oregon.

I don't.  Unless Duke did something dirty or illegal, then I don't know what circumstances would change my mind.  Maybe if the kid had a family member in the hospital, and they needed the extra money to pay the bill, that might mitigate it.  Barring that, its just he got more money at a better football school.

To me, this isn't about Miami or Duke (and fwiw, I am glad Duke took a hit).  Its about doing due diligence prior to making a choice, and then once the choice is made and the document is signed, you stick to it.

I would guarantee that if some kid had done this exact same thing to Miami, most Miami fans would be up in arms about it.

I encourage all these young men to fully explore all the options, and sign the deal that is best for them.  But once its signed, honor it.

I think we agree that the system is fuged up. And I agree any team on the wrong side of what Mensah did would be pissed.

I don't agree with what Mensah did, being a 46 year old, well off, white dad of a 5 year old.  I, like you, would want my son to honor a commitment he made.  But our reality is different from theirs, and that forces unpopular decisions and moves. And I'll probably have to make some of those, maybe not as public as this, but I can be empathetic to it.

The whole thing was handled poorly by Mensah's family / team, but talent barks way louder than mistakes. Sad, but the world we live in.

I'll be back in Chapel Hill for the Halloween game vs Miami in 2026, so I hope we burn his season down.

I dont really expect anyone to have any character or values when the system doesn't. I would respect those who did though. College Football is losing what little interest I had in it. I wasn't against giving the athletes some control but whatever this system is will kill it over time.

A system never has character.  The individuals running or participating in it may or may not.

    • That is counter to my logic processor. We talking footwork, leg drive, I get it. If he is just talking about arm motion, I don’t get it.    I want to know more because we have a guy that needs to know about this more velocity patch.    Counter intuitive to what I always thought.  I can see making a more efficient motion to save wear and tear, get a quicker release, that kind of stuff. I wasn’t aware there was a way to get more velocity outside of having your base straight and in synch.    I am not saying it’s wrong just that I am surprised. I don’t know enough to be a lot skeptical, but I’m maybe a little skeptical.
    • I just think he's tired of getting the hell beat out if him behind trash tier OLs. Hard to blame him for that. At some point, I think he's either going to retire early or force his way out of there if they don't get it fixed.
    • The only source for Bryce's deep attempts I can find anywhere is Grok in reply to the original tweet: Bryce Young's approx. 46-50 deep pass attempts (20+ yards) in 2025 ranked among the lowest for starting QBs, around 28th-30th overall per PFF and fan analyses, with leaders like Matthew Stafford and Dak Prescott exceeding 70. His efficiency led the league despite lower volume. https://x.com/grok/status/2022067774499987744 So I ask again, who would you say was the best deep ball thrower of the season? Bryce at 99.7% with some of the fewest attempts in the league, or the league leader in attempts just below him at 98.7%? Because PFF crowned Bryce and conveniently left out the context that would dispute their claim.
