Boom. Walk off 55 yarder for GT right down the middle.

I think both Clemson and GT are likely low level top 25 teams but at 1-2 and struggling for much of their win over Troy you gotta drop Clemson from the rankings for now.

If they stay, which is a big if, it will be based on name and maybe they hold on at 24 or 25.

Idk... Dabo might be washed.

Going home with 2 timeouts in your pocket when you could have given your offense ~1 minute to drive for the win or the tie.

You love to see it!

I don’t think he could use those timeouts.   I think not using them was the right coaching move.  GT got their guys on and on top of that he made a career kick.  Thats football.  Putting them in that tight spot was the right call.

Gio Lopez is fuging atrocious. Why in the hell did Belichick and company give this guy $2M? He's not a D1 starter. He was at South Alabama for a reason. It's not like he was putting up big numbers there. He was a JAG at that level.

Agree.  6-6 record his last season at South Alabama, barely 200 yards passing per game and for a guy who is supposedly mobile, he only rushed for like 40 yards per game.

Those would be subpar numbers for a true freshman starting at a power school, much less a veteran playing in a conference where the talent is barely D1.

Also doesn't help that Freddie Kitchens' play calling is equally atrocious.

Yeah, I agree with letting it play out like that. Make them scramble to get out there and get setup. Now once they were able to accomplish that comfortably and we're able to settle in I might've called a timeout at that point. But whatever. The kid nailed his career long as time expired. Sometimes football just goes like that.

It's actually pretty simple. You just place one hand perpendicular over the other.

And, no, they lost the game directly because they had no time to answer GTs score. Patently obvious it was the wrong choice.

I am with you.  Almost any coach would accept that situation where the kicker had to beat his career best (by 4 yards), with the clock running out, to beat you.

If you're defense makes the same stops, kid has to make the same kick except with more pressure. Knowing that if you miss a career long kick, you give the other team the ball back, basically already in FG range with the game in hand.

The caping for Dabo is hilarious. I always forget how many UNC-CH BBall/Clemp football fans there are around these parts.

    • In 2025 Sam Darnold had over 1k more passing yards than Bryce Young on 1 less pass attempt. Repeat that to yourself several times and let it sink in. I absolutely love it when people come on here and invoke Sam Darnold like some gotcha. Darnold is the physical prototype for what anyone needs in a franchise QB. All the physical tools. Few people thought he would put it all together on the mental side of the position. He used to make some of the worst decisions you would ever see. At times in the past he made up for that with absurd throws and athleticism. But make no mistake whatsoever no matter how you feel about our starting QB. Bryce Young is a completely opposite conundrum. He lacks virtually any and all physical tools and athleticism and his elite processing is really mediocre at best on a good day and horrific on a bad day. These are realities people should have already been addressing instead of quadrupling down in year four.
    • The nice thing about the timing of Bryce's contract at least is that it's going to match up with the 2027 Draft Class. No excuses, he either becomes Rams 2nd half Bryce year long, or we draft his replacement.  Nothing wrong with carrying Bryce on his 5th year expiring and a 1st round rookie waiting in the wings. Let the rookie sit until the trade deadline, deal Bryce to a needy team at the time, profit.
    • Yeah they were bad QBs - but QB's that stayed on their teams for several years.  BY is better than all of those.
