My hope for an ending to the musical chairs at kicker is waning

While I am concerned about it I don't expect much this year record wise so it isn't like it's going to sink a great season. Give the young guy the keys and let him sink or swim. If we are trending upward by the end of the year then it can be something to directly address in 2026 along with our other needs.

I heard that one day out of like five and was reported by a tweet from Joe Person. Unless Person was right there on them or heard it from the coach, I don't know how he drew his conclusion. That being said, I have become aware that regulation posts are 18½ feet wide, while the so-called skinny posts are 9 feet wide. That's a big difference. The skinny posts are supposed to help with aiming and accuracy when it comes to the regulation posts. This makes me feel a little better, however I don't see anyone consistently saying, "That would've been good on Sundays." It would be nice to know the specifics every time they practice.

Of course, Fitzgerald was one for three on regulation posts last night. I saw it somewhere that the misses were 40-50 something yards away (as well as the make).

I saw he was 1 out of 3, but didn't the article I saw didn't specify what goal posts they were using.  I assumed they were still using the narrows.

Eh. He was good for us but his career has been even less impressive than Pinero.

not many options are available at this point w/o making a trade

zane had a 90% FG accuracy his one season here

I wouldn't mind bringing back pinero for the right price but apparently pinero and the FO burnt their bridges after last season

They're not going to put skinny posts on the real field. Plus, one of the reporters even referenced Fitzgerald's performance on the regulation posts in a question to Canales during the presser. Canales essentially said that Fitzgerald has to finish.

If we don't find a guy between Wright and Fitzgerald, it will likely just be a parade of guys to figure something out. This happened before, so it's more of the same.

Ideally we just try to ride Fitzgerald out and he eventually finds his groove.

We can't find a serviceable kicker, meanwhile the Jags have a dude banging 70 yarders. LOL

We're one of the few teams who consistently struggle with it. Eventually you just have to chalk it up mismanagement.

    • Well, hope they're not worried about a torn Labrum or Rotator Cuff, as someone who went through that myself, I know those don't have anything show up on X-Rays but from the MRI, so this is kinda a nothing update, hope it's not a tear or his season is already over if they decide to do surgery now. Which is basically what would be needed to get him to 100% for the start of next season's training camp if it's a labrum.  If he plays the season with it and then does surgery, he's not going to be ready for camp and probably not the start of the season either.
    • I always try to not pay much attention to a team’s preseason win/loss record. The 1982 Washington and 2021 LA Rams both lost every game in the preseason and went on to win the Super Bowl, whereas the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns both won every game in reason and went on to lose every regular season game. There’s many examples of teams that lose in preseason that go on to have good seasons, but equally there are teams that lose in preseason and that continues in the regular season. Which will we be?  I think our floor is a handful of wins, while our ceiling will probably be around the 9-10 win mark. The latter will require significant improvement from the whole team and coaching staff, and will also need Bryce to play like the QB we drafted him to be. I want to be optimistic and predict a winning season, but it’s really difficult as a Panthers fan!
    • Cos he looks much better?
