I had no idea it was so long ago. That being said, the Ravens let him go for "football reasons," but he's still on ice for 10 games. I believe that if he didn't suck so bad last season, they'd have kept him, but between missing on the field (73 percent success), missing for 10 games the coming season, and him being 35 years old, he's probably just not worth the trouble.

The 14 years old language. That's the part I didn't understand.

Like ain't fair. Elite QBs in their prime have a very long leash. Aging kickers who are falling off hard don't. No one expected Watson to have a sip of that Cleveland water and turn to trash and then have his Achilles turn into a rubber band but I don't think anyone is exactly sad to see it either.

Rizz isn't 14 year old language. The fact you say that makes me question your character a bit. How Gruden of you...

CPcavedweller is either not playing with a full deck or trolling. He will randomly and unprompted bash one of our best pass rushers in franchise history but then go to war for the likes of Justin Tucker.

In hindsight obviously we should not have traded Butker and it was a glaring boneheaded move but there's also the reality that we haven't done a damn thing competively the last 7 years anyways so 🤷‍♂️

You now remember gano missing a 30 yard FG in our playoff game vs NO. Butker would have NEVER! But yeah after his rookie season we have been full gutter mode. Could have made the difference in 2017 though 😞

Even if he didn’t have the extra baggage he was 32nd in FG% in 2024 and 16th (only 2 spots ahead of Eddie P) in 2023. End this thread.

TBH, I don’t recall many kickers known for their accuracy just falling off a cliff.  I remember guys like Morten Andersen kicking well up to 40.  I have to think Tucker’s likely was knowing all his chickens from his dirtbag activities were coming home to roost, and I imagine that definitely changed his performance on-field.

And for the record, I don’t say this as an endorsement to sign him or for him period.  He’s a creep.  I’m simply wondering out loud how someone could have fallen off so quickly.

i think Matthew Wright is an excellent kicker in his own right, but my opinion, considering our history with Butker, is no matter his struggles now, stick with Fitz and see what happens in a year or so.  Give him a chance.  My stance with Butker and Gano was to keep Butker.  Hopefully the FO will start listening to me lol.

Just look at his stats. Over the past 3 seasons he has become worse than Eddie P at 50 +. Last season those issues started showing up at 49-49 yards

    • By all indications, the surgery was "minor." I know with all surgeries and especially back surgery there can be complications, but I think the whole time Tremble did this with the expectation he would be able to be back for Week 1 It sounds like he will be ready to start back in team drills next week. He's a veteran who knows the system so I'm sure that helps. I still can't imagine he will play a normal workload early on though
    • Maybe. He was pretty good in college before a bad injury. He had a good preseason last year as a UDFA in Washington and was on their practice squad all year so they obviously saw something worth developing. He signed a futures deal with the Panthers earlier this year, and everything about him has been increasingly positive. Tremayne has gotten a decent amount of time with the ones, and a lot with the twos for someone that doesn't have a chance. He's the only other 6'4" plus WR on the team, plays ST, and is a more natural backup to the X receiver position than David Moore. That was my thinking behind it. But he may well end up as one of the last roster cuts. If so, I do hope they can bring him back to the PS. But I personally think there's a good chance he could be claimed given his ST ability and what hes shown at WR.
    • That was my thought originally, but so many of the beat writers have mentioned keeping 7 WRs in conversations that I went with that, at least for the purposes of this projection. But you're right that historically defensive guys who were standouts at ST have tradionally gotten those last spots
