Evidently, Fowler has discovered a new rule - if you are ahead and pull your starters while in the lead you . . .umm  . . . win???

Pre season aren't real games the teams aren't trying to win.... (dont believe me check out teams kneeling instead of attempting *game* tying chipshots so they avoid OT)  they are even less meaningful when you have had joint practices all week.

There's no OT in preseason anyway.

All this game showed me was:

1. Starters will be decent

2. We have terrible depth

3. Special teams will be..............special

Oh yeah, and Andy Dalton sucks ass

Not sure how one drive by our starters playing the 2nd and 3rd stringers of a team that won 3 games last year….indicates our starters are on track.  And their backups 3 and outed us on 50% of our drives.

fans are doing the same thing we do every year of the Tepper era.   Manifesting a good team when there is no evidence yet of such IMO

Pooed one post because being knee jerk doomer about a pre season game were the players who will actually be doing the playing when It matters on a professional sports team that has been awful the past few seven years, actually looked like they picked up were we left off making progress and left the game up 7-0.

Pre season is a glorified warm up action designed to knock off rust and evaluate depth.... which anyone who knows our team knows our team knows that our depth is god awful!!! OUR so called "professional" teams defense was the worst In NFL HISTORY last year and expectations for anyone rational on that side should be very very very low.

Expecting low end depth players and UDRFA camp bodies from the aforementioned worst DEFENSE IN NFL HISTORY not to allow 30+ points is what's irrational.

Nobody is upset about losing a preseason game. The response you see is a result of a myriad of factors. Our offensive depth is bad. Our defensive depth is bad. Our QB room is cheeks. Our ST is horrendous. And we had a 2nd year first round pick get ejected within minutes of kickoff. One nice drive does not negate top to bottom fugery. This begins and ends with Dave Canales. This is his ship. And while we are still exercising patience to a degree because he is a young 2nd year head coach we are also rapidly reaching the point where we will no longer excuse one step forward and immediately two steps back. Even if we aren't winning we need to see incremental improvement.

You can largely track the meaningless preseason warmups…..and our good seasons we largely had respectable warmups which lead to us winning at least half of them.

It's crazy the amount some people on the huddle definitively know after the first preseason game.

To be abundantly clear this is the same place where many people ridiculed others last preseason saying it didn’t matter and then we got the doors blown off in the first two weeks of the regular season.

Preseason has become too different of an animal to compare it to the old 4 game schedule. It’s no longer starters vs starters and depth vs depth based on when the games are played. We clearly have things we need to clean up, special teams comes to mind but we didn’t even have DC calling plays. I want to see our offense get some Reid with XL, and TMac out there together and we need better LB and safety play.

Yeah, Canales is our playcaller.  He is just as green behind the ears as some of our other youngster.   I didn’t like that either.  And then it just ends up being an excuse of why it was a botched warmup opportunity in so many ways.
