Irrelevant in this discussion then.   Morgan isn't trading 1st rounders for Hendrickson.  Off the top of my head his trades have been:

Burns for a 2nd, a shuffle with D Jackson and Johnson that didn't work or hurt, 7th round Barrett for Michael Jackson (wow) and a 4th for Mingo (uh, yeah).

I don't follow why anyone would discern from that track record that he'd ship a single first for Hendrickson.

We have no idea what this organization might do but definitively stating that we aren't gonna do something dumb is climbing way out on a really small limb. LOL

I guess they aren't going to take a backup center and a 3rd round pick then.

We don’t have any young defensive players to spare we’re already super thin

Definitively stating that we are going to do something dumb is... different?  Based on what in Morgan's tenure?

Giving an in the box safety that struggled pretty mightily in coverage was pretty dumb. Paying a very undersized pass rushing specialist DT $45M over 3 years to play in a 3-4 defense sure seems pretty dumb on the surface.

We'll see how some of this stuff plays out but I'm not at all sold on this idea that we've definitely turned a corner and become a smart operating organization.

So... free agents that haven't played a game snap yet?  I agree that we'll see and I don't blame you for the commitment to misery.

Im not committed to misery. I'll be happy to be proven wrong but yeah, Moehrig has historically struggled in coverage and Wharton is a barely over 6' 280# DT.

Who’s that lol, I haven’t heard that name ever called by the announcers

Superb physical specimen with untapped pass rushing abilities due to lack of creativity in the defensive scheme. In the right environment he could quadruple production. 3rd round steal that could be something special under the right DC.

Archie has already said Arch won't be declaring for the draft next year. And if they blocked Eli to the Chargers ain't no way they're letting Arch end up in this poo show. LOL

People were saying last year Shedeur Sanders wouldn't play here if picked #1 overall lol time will tell

Had Shedeur been a top draft pick in absolutely think Deion would've tried to steer where he ended up. I'm not sold on Arch being this slam dunk #1 overall guy. Just not near enough sample size on him to say that. People are saying that based on his last name, just like Shedeur.

Kinda my point.

    • He didn't actually make the playoffs. We had several opportunities to clinch on our own and crapped the bed. We had to wait for Atlanta to win to get us in. We had the tie breaker in a poo division that had 3 teams finish 8-9.  If you go back and look at the games we played, we weren't a dominant offensive team under him as an OC. We beat the Jets 13-7 and barely beat the packers after they failed to convert multiple red zone trips. We relied heavily on converting 4th downs. DC was also extremely slow at recognizing trends in game and was really lacking with clock management.  Was there progress this year? Yes. But most of it was on the defensive side of the ball. Our offense was stagnant with a couple of exceptions. Any improvement from Bryce was minimal and he kept insisting on XL over Coker, and even RB distribution instead of going with the hot hand.  He may be building something, but I don't think we've seen enough to know what that is. It could go either direction. If he insists on being OC, then without a noticeable improvement, yes he needs to be on the hot seat like any OC would. The more jobs you take on the more you have to be judged on. I think he would have a longer leash if he hired a true OC and just focused in being HC.
    • zero percent suprised Luke is a nice guy irl, have never heard anything differently from anyone that's met him.  I have heard mixed reports on Smitty I know one guy on here got to know Deangelo Williams and J stew pretty well back in the day when they used to host events and he said they were nice iirc  I can't imagine Jordan gross is a bad hang, he's hilarious
    • Ran across this bit of fun. As seen on https://www.thesportinggent.com/blogs/dispatches/front-porch-musings-field-ethos-journal (a blog for outdoors gear and clothing)
