I’m trying to be positive on Bryce Young, but….

There is absolutely NO WAY I'd pick up his 5th year option at season's end. I'd be planning to take a QB in round 1 or 2 of the draft or bring in a vet via FA or trade to compete for the job in 2026.  If I couldn't find a trade partner I'd have him play out the 4th year and let him move on.

If BY  somehow managed to turn things around this season and next, I still wouldn't give him a big deal. I'd make him play under the TAG in 2027 to see if he could play well 3 years in a row. If he did, only then would I even consider offering him a new deal...and it wouldn't be a deal to "reset the market". If he insisted on that I'd let him fleece and his agent fleece some other team.

After what he's done to this franchise he needs the public embarrassment of being a first round pick (the #1 overall pick) that was cut after his third season.

He doesn't have it.

Cam took most of his nasty shots in the pocket and his injury came off a chase down. He also got head hunted but that gets called now for sure ...... Right?????

To be fair Newton was the hammer when he got into the open field.

The last LB I can think of that would have really tried to take him on is Ray Lewis (and obviously a ton of hard nosed bastards before him). Almost everyone made a 'business decision' when the 6'5", 250lb Newton was running free and didn't go for the kill shot.

Bryce is appears to be a subpar QB, but he isn't a bad person. There's no need to humiliate the guy. I actually feel bad for him. Put yourselves in his position and imagine how much mental anguish he must be experiencing today. Not picking up the 5th year option would send a strong enough message.

Bryce can be a great human.  We can also cut him after this year and literally no one should feel bad for him.  Dude is going to walk away with 37 million dollars and his health.   How many humans get 37 mill to be bad at their jobs seasonal job for 3 years.

I finally was able to watch the broadcast, I was at the game so it was hard to see some of the finer points.

In the moment I was very frustrated with the offense. After watching the broadcast, I feel much better about Bryce overall. He can only hit your receivers in the hand so many times. He is putting the ball where it needs to go. Renfrow had multiple balls dropped. JT had a beautiful sideline pass off his hands. XL needs to get his feet down.

That first interception is 100% on XL. He needs to work his way back to the QB on that drag. The defender should not have a chance to undercut that ball.

Corbett needs to get his poo together. It's unacceptable for these snaps to not be hitting BY in the chest. BY saved some terrible snaps.

The kid can scoot too. Glides for 1st downs when he breaks containment.

I'm just bummed as anyone we lost week one, but I don't think the sky is falling like some folks here. I saw a lot on the rewatch that I liked. TMac, he's going to be something special.

How about that 4th and goal throw away pass. Wide open WR right in front of him.

the first INT on XL? lol wut?

I question anyone who watches the balls to Hunter Renfrow Sunday.....and thinks it was a Hunter issue.

we are also at the point where tough 50/50 balls (like to Saunders) are now deemed layups our guys should get 100% of the time.  They are called 50/50 for a reason.

Not great. Nowhere in the above post did I say he was perfect, but I don't think it's nearly as bad as some folks claim here.

Again, we were in another situation where zero time was in the play clock when he got to the line of scrimmage.

Basically this entire roster is complete ass outside of a few guys

Horn and I guess DB but he isn’t worth what we’re paying him

On offense it’s the majority of OL minus Corbett. Then Tmac and Bryce

For the 3rd year in a row Bryce has 1 pass catcher he can throw to. Before it was Thielen and now it’s TMac. That’s literally it. This WR room ain’t much if at all better than the one he had his rookie season. Factor in the coaches and GM’s during this time and it’s a complete circus.

Bryce didn’t even play bad yesterday. The fumble was rough. 4 and 1 play TMac ran wrong route. The two plays before that were completely wasted by Canales. Interception was more on Legette and a great play by safety who knew what was coming. Nijman was Kalil levels bad.

This board said all the same things about Baker. This organization makes these QB’s look so f’n bad. Whoever we draft next would be wise to say no and deal with whatever repercussions come with that

That 1000% was on XL. Receivers are taught in high school on drags to come back to the QB. You cannot just run down the line and not expect the DB to jump the route.

Man this place is a riot. When he plays average people compare him to the greatest QB's. When he plays poorly or horribly people downplay it altogether. Comical.

Bryce Young and Baker Mayfield are two very different QB's. Baker has always had the physical tools and a really good arm. Bryce Young is not that and never will be. He outright refused to throw at the combine for this very reason. But he certainly won't even begin to approach Baker in the arm strength department by still going out of his way to avoid lifting weights in his third year as one of the smallest QB's in the league. Stop coddling him already he isn’t a newborn baby.

    • Just chasing targets is a fools game. Chase averaged 85 yrds and .76 TDs per game his first year and 87.16 yrds, and .75 TD's per game his second year. Statistically the same. NOT an improvement. Puka saw no increase either. Yes, Waddle's went down because he had to share targets with another receiver - just like TMac will have to share targets with Coker next year so you have actually just made my point concerning Coker. Olave saw an increase in targets but Carr replaced Dalton and even with the increase in targets, his production was pretty flat (83 extra yards and 1 more TD for the entire year). And Wilson's number did increase but the Jets replaced the other two receivers and their contribution was significantly down from Davis's and Moore's. Again, nothing in those numbers should lead anyone to believe there will be a big leap for Tmac next year.
    • See my previous post. You're also leaving out that T-Mac was likely hitting a rookie wall, like 95% of rookies do late in their first season, combined with the added attention on him by defenses, which in turn would be why Bryce looked Coker's way down the stretch.  With Coker playing like that to start next year, defenses will have to pay attention to it, which will then also make things easier for T-Mac. All of which is also ignoring that T-Mac will just be a better player next year than he was this year, assuming he works on his game this offseason, which we all know he will be.  If a player who was already your clear cut #1 comes back even better his next season, you're going to make sure you're throwing it his way more often, no matter who else you have. Again, Coker's added targets won't be at the expense of T-Mac's, they will BOTH be taking targets from the rest of the team.  Not to mention, we should be passing it more next year to begin with, seeing as we'll have both of them hopefully ready to go full speed Week 1, which again, will help both their target totals increase. Coker looks like a really good player, but even the most optimistic person can't say he looks like he has #1 potential, he has very solid to maybe even high end #2 potential.  You're not taking targets away from the reigning OROY who looks like a true Top 15 WR already to get your #2 targets, you increase both of them by taking from the others.
