Preseason three (at that time, the 'dress rehearsal' game) he looked horrible. Played great when it mattered though.

These days, the college game just doesn't teach pro level skills like it once did. Makes it much harder to identify QB talent.

The modern NFL offense more closely resembles a 2010 college offense than it does a 2010 NFL offense. The college game has been driving the innovation in the sport for the past couple decades.

I still wonder what it would have been like in 2011 if Cam actually got to have mini camp and the full offseason instead of that bs lockout.

My "what if" with Newton will always be what if his early development would have been trusted to someone like Norv Turner rather than Mike Shula.

It was the TD run when he bowled over half the secondary that got me onboard the Cam wagon.

Changes to the college game are why it's become so hard to develop quarterbacks and find half decent offensive linemen.

Anyone watching Giants-Cowboys?  Miles Sanders looks like a completely different back. Burns also looks really good too.

Such an indictment on this organization, no one looks worth a poo here.

QBs get it the worst because I think that’s the position where coaching makes the most difference, but yep it’s just rot from the inside that impacts everyone here. the only real exception I can think of is Luvu and he still got out first chance he could.

Absolutely. Shula basically relied on Cam's extremely unique physical tools to carry his offense. The entire passing game revolved around Cam making the lowest percentage of NFL throws (downfield passes to covered receivers) on most attempts. Cam running Norv's offense with the read option and RPOs added to it would've been ideal.

5 carries for 15 yards? He's got a goal line touchdown. But Javonte Williams is doing all the work.

    • Even if you concede that Bryce gets better as the season goes on you cant have a QB that just surrenders the first 2 games and the next 4 or 5 are iffy
    • I understand very clearly that Wilks’ approach in ‘22 wasn’t going to make us able to beat the better teams, but he got us competing and succeeding against the teams we should beat, similar teams to us. And it felt the best any stretch has felt, under Tepper.  But Tepper and the mob here had to have themselves the Offensive Minded HC, play caller guru. How’s that working out?    I know this: guys in the locker room were all about Wilks. He equaled or bested the win total of every other coach under Tepper before or since. It is a fact, and not for nothin.    FWIW I didn’t think he was gifted as a DC, when he was here as the DC. But he was excellent coaching DBs. All those jobs are different I guess, take different skill sets. I think his strength as a HC was getting people to follow him. That goes a long way.  After what has befallen this team since rejecting him, I don’t feel like a lesser fan for supporting him, I promise you that.
    • Since you also posted the Denver game, worth pointing out thumbing do anything for three quarters after the first drive until Denver went into garbage (Bryce) time.  They got a meaningless late touchdown to make it a 14 point and give Bryce some yards.  Since we’re moving into superlatives, they weren’t competitive at all in that game.  and Bryce also got complete outshone by Bo Nix and anyone with pride would retire after that.
