Agree. Agree. Agree. Horn should get snaps based on being the only WR that can actually stretch the field and pressure safeties with speed.

Legette can do it too I think and with him and Tet, they have to pay attention. Horn, we really ha en’t seen and while maybe he does run some fly stuff and get a shot, I have this picture in my head of him evading a tackle on a short gain and taking off with it.

Also on this XL thing, there is a chance that he comes back wanting to prove something (and I know what people are gonna say he will prove, lol, but I am hoping it is in a good way).

I will be shocked if Horn takes reps on the outside.  Hunter Renfrow is big compared to Horn.

Well, this is going to be interesting.

I was feeling confident we could beat them to death with Chubba and Rico, but it looks like that's not going to happen.

I think there's a real chance we can win this one.  Miami's D is not good, and their offense is beatable so long as you harass Tua.

I wouldn't want to see him on the outside either. He can press safeties from the slot and allow TMac and company to work underneath. Safeties have to back up if a guy is streaking by them - even if Bryce refuses to look their way.

Legette isn't shifty enough. Just get a hand or body on him and he's all of a sudden a 4.7 guy. Which is fine honeslty. I'd rather see him play like he's 220 pounds than like he's a burner anyway. Gotta be able to out muscle 180 pounds CBs. Just have to.

Yeah he has to man up. They aren’t little squirrels he has going against.
This thing about speed and deep routes though, with our QB; I don’t think it is necessary because a burner will have to slow up. Not trying to start anything that’s just the way I see it. fact of life

I don’t think we have to have Ted Ginn speed to do that. I think it is much closer to a Russell Wilson scenario.

Got you. Don't want to hash out disagreements about the QB either. This is really about the WRs role in pressuring safeties. Speed will open up the field of play. We're constantly faced with all 11 defenders within 15 yards of the LOS. That's not a sustainable way to play offense. I think Carolina gets as much Cover 1 with a Robber defensive looks as they get Cover 2. That has to change.

Call me crazy but I don’t think there’s any drop off to Dowdle…

I think Chuba is better in pass pro. I think Chuba does a better job setting up blockers, while Dowdle tends to just want to juke or outrun defenders. He has more big play potential, but probably won't get you the consistent numbers. He'll get you in more 3rd and long situations. Now I'm actually excited to see Etienne get more burn. That kid has big play ability written all over him. And he is NOT a punt returner.

    • Maybe had you put it that way instead of dismissing the guy as a ‘radio’ I wouldn’t have pushed back. I get that. At the same time, he knows the team, he is brilliant at film diagnosis, highly disciplined and would have the instant respect of any and all players in that locker room. Coaches too probably. It is hard to overstate how good he was and that includes the mental side.  I wouldn’t bet against him. Give him a couple of seasons to get the job down.  I shouldn’t say every, but I bet it is every… OC or DC that got a HC gig has said they weren’t ready for everything that goes with being a HC. Totally different than the job they had been doing, because now they have to deal with everything and they didn’t even know what that was when they started.  edit: I guess a point I am trying to make with him is, you can work your way up through jobs but when you get promoted the job is not just a higher level of the job you were doing, it is a different job requiring new skills.  The failed HC ranks are full of great coordinators for that very reason.  I resist the dogma of you can’t be good at that unless you were good at LB coach or DC.  To me, Wilks wasn’t a real good DC but he somehow understood that HC job intuitively.
