Trade for a QB?

Yeah but that was an abnormal situation. Flacco wasn't getting the results and wasn't going to be a part of their future. There isn't an equivalent situation that makes us better or makes sense for us.

Especially not at a bargain bin price. You want to trade for a guy like Tua? Well....good luck with the price AND the contract.

There is a dearth of quality starting QB's. That also means there aren't a bunch of them sitting on the bench elsewhere.

Woah, how did we get from Flacco to Tua?

Well they both were/are starters. Wasn't after Tua specifically but just an example of a starter that a team is ready to move on from.

It's not realistic after I looked at the cap situation. Miami would get flattened with dead cap.

High ankle sprain, 2-4 weeks, that said, no one is coming in and getting the playbook down better than what Dalton or Hooker will be able to do over the next 2 weeks.  We are not in buy in win now mode, we are still a developing project that was in a hopeful position at this point.  Use andy, if ineffective, use Hooker.

Ultimately our formula the last 3 weeks winning has been Run. The. Ball.  Whether its Rico or Chuba, we will run the ball atleast 30 times and ask Dalton to be opportunistic and that should be it.

I could see someone like Bryce Perkins or our old friend Jack Plummer added to the practice squad while Hooker gets elevated. But I agree that by the time a new QB gets the PB down enough, Bryce Young should be healed up any draft capital is essentially wasted.

Sounds like they plan to sign someone to be the backup. I am sure they have very little faith in Hooker.

How much of it is due to Bryce forcing you into a very conservative offensive gameplan though? Their TD:INT ratios are virtually identical. If you have Bryce slinging it around like Jameis you probably end up with similar turnover numbers.

This is a very good point. Like sure it's easy to not throw many picks when you don't or can't challenge a defense and just let the running game do most of the work.

Also hard to throw INTs when most of your incompletions end up landing in the dirt before even reaching the WR or DB

If Legette can build on this game it's such a waste to have this receiving corps thrown to with Bryce. Need someone who can fling it down field and let them make plays even if they're not necessarily the "best" QB. Like how Daunte Culpeper played with Randy Moss.

This is getting ridiculous. Fantasy football numbers are all some of you care about. Wins are the last thing you care about. I've seen you type that out. Some only care about a single player and whether or not they get they're yards. I think im fanning wrong. If a win causes this much angst for some of you i dont understandwhy you even watch. Don't worry though, they will return to loosing soon enough and you can go back to bitching about that too.

The fact that you recognized that we're likely to go back to losing soon is the whole point. Some of us can look beyond unimpressive wins against crappy opponents and realize we're not in good shape for the long haul. And we're doubly frustrated because we think the rest of the team is pretty good and one key position is holding his back.

Ah the old 1 player away defense. You will get educated next week. Yes we do need a long term answer at qb, I'm not debating that. I'm am saying that the answer is not someone else's 3rd string qb. That isn't going to happen to the same franchise twice. Neither is a once in a generation qb walking through the door again. All you guys want is someone throwing a deep ball every other play. It doesn't work that way. So you guys might as well shut up about it until the season is over.

You know you don't have a good argument when you make up what the other person is thinking. Nobody wants a deep ball every other play, but we want that to be something we can do. And I do not plan to shut up so you can shut up if you have a problem with it.

I don't think people are saying we're 1 player away from being a contender.

I do though think it's a very legitimate statement to say, "we're 1 player away from this team looking like they're moving in the right direction and have a chance to get into contention in the next few years"

As I don't think we're 1 player away from contention, not even close, still need holes to fill (or young players to get better in the coming years) on defense before we can ever enter that conversation.

But if we had a legitimate QB who could be our long term solution, I think we'd be passing the eye test of a team on the rise, not looking like we do now, and that's of a middling team who is squeaking by wins against some of the worst teams in the league.

By all means keep talking. You think we have e a great team being held back by one player. I say we are being held back by more than one player. History will tell us who's right.

    • I used to think Juan was a Zod alt. Agree he's a great poster.
    • Hawks said nah we good and sent him to the shadow realm aka the Wizards. Cold blooded. I mean they're 2-2 in a series with a young up and coming Knicks team largely through 34 year old CJ McCollum. Even if they ultimately lose the series at least they are there and have something to build on. I think Hornets fans are just beaten down and lack the objectivity to assess the situation. They think we are going to get so much worse if and when we finally change gears. Worse how? We've already been a lottery team for years now. We've already been looking to win our first playoff series in about a quarter century. We already can't get past the play in and in failing to do so we have completely embarrassed ourselves twice looking like we don't even belong. Honestly there is absolutely no excuse for a team like the Magic to be more competitive and successful than us in the playoffs. Absolutely disgusting. But that's just me. I was fuging lit when we got the Hornets back in Charlotte but that is old old news. It's time for these boys to get into a playoff series. Enough is enough. If they can't do it for 2026-27 then they need to make wholesale changes regardless.
    • Not one single pick that is asking me why we drafted a guy in the first place. It was a guy we needed and/or a guy that had certain traits making them stand out. Best of all, I feel everyone we drafted are capable of stepping onto the field this year and have a meaningful role (even Kuwatch on special teams). Obviously, nothing is guaranteed but I'm not seeing any huge flags on guys because they're risky projects or massive overreaches.
