Oh absolutely not.

And we’ll see. I definitely remember more of a vertical element in Tampa on top of the never ending mesh routes.

Out of curiosity I took a look at 2024 to see if it was markedly different between Bryce and Dalton in the deep shots catrgory using NFL Next Gen Stats(20+ yard throws).

Dalton: 2.8/GM, 8.75 Attempts/20+ yard throw

Young: 3.8/GM, 8.34 Attempts/20+ yard throw

That was a little surprising.

I think Dalton will ball out this weekend with a week of practice as the starter.

Yeah, I don't think a 37 year old Dalton has a lot of "balling out" left in the tank. Possibly a game or two here or there but I would say that definitely should not be the expectation level.

If Rodgers and Flacco could duke it out at 40-41 Dalton has no excuses. Vinny was like 44 with us lol. Stafford is 37 as well

Jameis was 2-5 last year. -64 scoring differential, and his overall TD/turnover differential was 1:1. That's terrible.

And point being?

I've never one time said he was a good QB or would help us win games, in fact, I've quite literally said he costs his teams games.

But none of that means anything when I've lobbied for him solely due to his arm strength and his fearlessness in throwing any pass (which is also what makes him a bad actual QB), as those things will 100% help expedite the improvement of all of our pass catchers.

Dalton only had one game with Thielen, who was kinda the defacto deep threat last season.

Rodgers and Stafford are HOF level players. Andy in his prime was an above average NFL starter but not in the discussion for being the best at his position like Rodgers and Stafford were.

Those 300+ yard performances are getting a lot fewer and far between for guys like Rodgers and Flacco too.

Just saying that I wouldn't expect a wild performance. Vinny also wasn't throwing for big numbers often after about his mid-30's.

Even beyond Rodgers and Stafford being HOF level players, the two of them (and Flacco) always ranked near (or at) the top of the list for arm strength throughout their careers, they all had cannons.

Dalton didn't have a noodle arm, but he never had an arm like those 3, so even if they've diminished over age, so did Dalton.

Yeah, if he starts multiple times this season it will be interesting to see if that changes.

Current year Bryce is down to 2.3/GM and 14 Attempts/20+ Yard Throw.

He has been even less aggressive about taking deep shots so far this year.

100%. Andy had a good arm but never an elite arm. Those guys had cannons.

Of the regular starting QB's since 2000, there might be an argument to be made that Stafford and Rodgers were the two biggest arms in the league during that time.

I'm sure there are others that belong in the conversation, and they might not actually be 1-2, but I don't think either would fall out of the Top 5 strongest arms during that time.

(admittedly, this is also just a pure gut feel without trying to think back through all the starting QB's during that time frame, but I don't think it's all that off base either)

    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
