If they trade Dowdle…

Something needs to be done. This is unfair to him and the team and the fans.

One thing, if he plays a reduce role and stays healthy it may help him in the market because people are not going to forget those two games and him out playing Chuba once Chuba came back.

One thing that could be is Chuba isn’t 100% but didn’t want to stay out because he was afraid of losing his job. That is serious speculation though with no facts behind it.

I don’t really know what happened but Chuba looks awful this year. He ran with a lot more aggression and decisiveness last year. He’s looked sluggish, even pre injury.

What Canales is doing is coaching malpractice. I do not care you paid Chuba 8 mil a year. You play the best players, period. Especially after Rico came in and absolutely dominated. And has continued to look not just better, but look like the FAR better player.

You play the damn game to win. You don’t find a player like Rico and trade them for nothing. Playing the damn draft pick trading card game has destroyed this team.

I think it has more to do with him being a Captain and Dave not wanting to embarrass him. But whatever it is somebody has to have that come to Jesus moment.

DC is not cut out for the big chair. Not playing Rico in the 2nd half proves it. I also wondered in another thread if Rico told DC to stick his rotation.

I thought the same thing. You don’t come out and post two straight 200 yard games and then have your touches cut in half and take it laying down. Making the fans pissed off and the team vibes go downhill in the process. Canales has it be careful with this kind of sh*t because he doesn’t have the same kind of credit with the players Ron Rivera did sticking to his veterans, Canales has done nothing but lose in Carolina so far.

in fairness to the front office, and god knows I have skewered them, Chubbas deal at the time was simply window dressing about paying your players and its relatively easy to get out from under,  I suspect this is the brandt effect

OK, then (I haven't looked). If it's as you say, and I'm not doubting you, then why in the fug would we trade Rico if it's relatively easy to get rid of Chuba, especially when we have JB (at least in theory) returning at some point in the future as well? You gotta trade Chuba and extend Dowdle, right?

That’s where I am falling on it, in the practical clinical view. Take the hit on the smaller return you get from Chuba. I don’t think it will happen though

PS even if we don’t have Brooks, we got Rico for a pretty decent price and there are running backs out there.
Rico is doing the role they got Brooks to do, being another good option in the passing game

I truly hate to say it, but I agree. Dowdle is not signing back her next year, especially after how Canales and Co. have handled his hot hand.

I don't believe we're going very far this year...so it's not a decision I want us to make but thinking ahead for the future, if we could get something for him it might be better for the future of the team. Unless there is another option where we restructure/trade Chuba which I'm guessing is unlikely.

I want to emphasize, I'm a huge fan of his this season. But as an organization you have to look beyond that.

(Also keep in mind we have 2nd round pick J. Brooks waiting in the wings, whatever that means to you.)

I am expecting that Brooks will never play a meaningful snap for the Panthers and will be a FA immediately once his rookie deal is up.

I think you have to look at Brooks as a non factor. If he comes back and proves he is, it’s gravy. But you can’t count on anything from him.

Nothing like taking a RB in a weak RB class as a 2nd round draft pick.

Tepper your expectations.

That has to be water under the bridge at this point. Just hope they learn from it.
I have always said I think that was maybe a mandated thing. Not specifically take him but you help Bryce at all costs, priority number one we can fix other poo later.
But that doesn’t matter anymore either.

    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
    • Well, if they know Tepper wants to keep Bryce there is an an implied safety net there in case he fails. A possibility that he will be empathetic and •maybe• not fire them.  If they go against that and bring in someone else and that fails they are in a much worse spot.  IMO.  And another factor may be that after all those years of instability and musical chairs pre Bryce there will likely be a feeling of security in knowing what they have.   Kind of like settling just to keep from going through the process all over again.     IOW I think he really needs to fug up bad to lose his job and change our course.
