After we release Dalton tomorrow, who do we sign?

He will retire at the end of the season. Canales already said in the press conference that he will continue being the back up.

The real question will be who do they get in the offseason to either A) provide competition in QB room or B) have a competent back up for situations like this.

The problem is can you really have B without A?

No you cannot have one without the other. I just cannot see the FO looking at the results they see on the field every Sunday and say they are set at the qb position. There is NO WAY they could not see it.

That’s what I was getting at. If they are going to have a real back-up QB it’s going to have to be somebody that can drive competition, which has ultimately been a cardinal sin here since Bryce was drafted.

We have a backup starting already and it's not Dalton. What we don't have is a future starter. Forgot a franchise qb I would settle for a really good starter for the time being.

The fear is that they see it, and have seen it but are overruled. I think they should have seen it like, off the bat.

It’s soul crushing to admit the obvious; that by FO design, Thumbelina is the best QB on our roster.  We will have to ride him to the end of another lost season.  He’s going to receive an extension to his contract, and we will be stuck with him for another 3-4 years.  QB purgatory.

”The call is coming from inside the house.”

I still have no idea why Dalton was brought back. He is completely washed and no amount of time sitting is going to help that. We saw it creep i  2 years ago and then it was obvious last year too.

Players who can't play anymore don't need a token spot on the roster. Im more worried about Moton's knee than what scrub is #2 now.

It's obvious Dalton is done/cooked/uninterested.  After today, he has to be released.  Who can we sign or trade for as a competent backup for the rest of the year?

No trades please.....ride the crippled horse untill it hits the ground. This season is cooked. We have seen what they are against real competition. Don't need to watch them take another ass beating if they did slip into a wild card spot.

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
