I'm All In On Drafting a QB in Round 1

I actually think we've built a decent situation for a QB to step into while trying to build around Bryce. We have a good OL, a good running game, and we have some talent at receiver. The very obvious thing holding back this offense is the lack of ability at the most important spot (and Canales not riding Rico).

i agree with this.  give the panthers an average to above average qb and rhey are playoff bound.  with that said the panthers will not only give byoubg the 5th but resign him long term at top ten salary bc thats how the panthers handle things lol

Not sure if we'd be slam dunk playoff bound but we'd contend for a spot. We still have serious defensive issues when we play real offenses.

This QB draft class kinda sucks. Like the year that we had the 1st pick. I would keep Bryce since it’s the last year of his contract, go after one of the higher end veteran QBs in FA, whoever that will be, and then take a shot on day 2 or 3 on somebody like Haynes King.

At that point, if it fails you can clean house and the new staff has a chance to pick their QB.

Our 1st rounder needs to go towards Edge or LB. Maybe OL but that can probably be handled in Free Agency.

100 percent exactly what I would do. I would lean LB in the first but not get locked in one one position but use it somewhere on defense.

Deciding that we *had* to draft a QB in the first and we had to do it now is what got us into 3 years of misery. We finally get all of our own picks next year.
Don’t forget that.

I know it's rare, especially for QBs, but I think Canales and Morgan know he's not the QB1 to take this team to the next level.  Don't be shocked if they decline the 5th-year option. Moreover, if one or both are gone, the odds increase tremendously as a new coach and/or GM have zero emotional ties to Bryce.

The current HC/GM have zero emotional ties to Young.

Tepper is the one that forced him on them.

The problem is FA QBs with options won’t come here. Including trades even if we want to overpay. We get leftovers thanks to Tepper.  The only hope is to draft one, and that’s a big hope since the Panthers don’t know how to draft.

Very similar to the Browns.

The opposite - this is a great opportunity for a QB to rebuild his career. They'll be lining up, if we're serious about challenging Young.

If we're not they'll obviously go elsewhere.

HC, possibly, but Dan was in the draft room when Young was picked.  Unless he was a quiet in his opposition, he signed off on Bryce as well.

It was more that they had to draft that QB.

They made a big song and dance about vetting them all. They thought they were the smartest guys in the room.

Instead Fitterer is now bumming around in someone else's Front Office making coffee and Tepper is out tens of millions of dollars.

His name isn't David Tepper. One dude drafted Bryce Young.

I'd be more concerned that Morgan was stood next to Fitterer during his franchise tanking Drafts if we hadn't had a pretty good 2025 Draft in April.

That’s like saying Vance could tell Trump what to do or Harris could tell a Biden what to do. Or the Captain is telling the Admirwl what to do.
They are there to Help facilitate their higher up’s agenda.

Dan needs to stand or fall on decisions that are clearly his to make.

Just my opinion but it is an informed opinion, having been in charge of stuff and also having been a supporting player for someone that is in charge.
You can question them but if they say they are doing whatever, you aren’t stopping it and if you make an issue of it you are likely going to be replaced.

If I remember correctly, there was a consensus among the top brass on Bryce.  At least that's what was reported.

Except an NFL team has an owner and the owner is essentially the king. Anything the king wants the king will get. Ultimately he's the one writing the checks and he has final say over anything he wants final say on.
