Just like against the packers, the panthers sent a loud message to the rest of the league; no matter who you are, if you have enough injuries to key starters, we can wait until your defense gets tired and eke out a victory with a field goal.

this made me lol, never change Fiz

I thought this was an interesting stat, we lead the nfl in fourth down attempts with 27.

And that probably means at least a couple of different things.

I wonder how many were necessary, make it or we lose, vs some other reason. We had one pretty early in the game recently on our side of the field but most seem to be no man’s land like between the 45 yard lines

Sorry I’m dumb when it comes to this stuff, what does this mean?

DVOA is just another way to rank the teams based on a ton different inputs. It's been tweaked throughout the years, but he always goes back and regrades teams so you're always using the same stat to compare teams. And it attempts to standardize everything to league average, so you're getting success play compared to what would happen on average in the league.

higher DVOA, better/more frequently the team is above average.

Panthers are the second lowest team by DVOA to get to 6-5. The only worse team is the 2016 Brock Osweiler Texans. This means two things, generally

1. The Panthers aren't as good as their record: reality is coming and coming fast. This isn't a disney movie; they're not better than the sum of their parts.

2. Regression to the mean in 2026: 2016 texans went 9-7. 2017 went 4-12. It's very difficult to constantly pull poo out of your ass week after week, season after season. Hell, look at the Chiefs last year compared to this year.

It basically means the people who say any stats that show Bryce as decent are bogus are now going to say this stat means we are bad no matter what our record ends up being.

Oh yes I remember this now, in 2015 Seahawks fans were all going on and on about their DVOA dominating ours before our playoff matchup. In that case it didn’t work out in their favor. Do you know how accurate these are through the years?

I mean if you look at Bryce’s stats before last week, he was ranked damn near the bottom of the league in every category so you can’t fault people for thinking anything positive is bogus.

I’ve heard several analyst say they don’t know how to rank the panthers because we are a confusing team.
One week we look like complete dog poo the next we win 30-0. Sure we beat a horrible jets team, but what was it, 13-6 or something like that? Beat the pack, but how good are they? They lost to us and the Browns and tied with Dallas, are they frauds? Would we have beat the bills with Bryce, I doubt it. Barely beat a 3-5 falcons team in OT and those seem to be Bryce’s best games. To me, the jury is still out and I’m optimistic, we beat SF and Bryce plays will il start to really believe.

    • Do you see the vision?  As of now our Carolina Panthers don’t have an identity. We are not an offensive powerhouse and on defense we only started getting it together towards the end of the year last year. In my opinion we are much closer to having an incredible defense that scares the daylights out of people. I say the answer is simple and we fully commit to that possible identity.    Emmanuel McNeil Warren (E man)  This guy is like a shark lurking around ready to attack anyone. Fearless. He is easily a top 20 talent in my eyes, and the only reason he isn’t more talked about is because he’s from Toledo. Do your due diligence as panther fans and watch his tape I beg you. Once you’re done watching let me ask you this, if you dropped E - Man into the strong safety spot on the Buckeyes, he isn’t being talked about as one of the best prospects we’ve seen in some time given the skill set you see with this guy? I think so. Put his name on the card and turn it in at 19.    Jacob Rodriguez  High effort, High energy, High IQ guy that flies around the field. We all know Jacob at this point. My only concern is he’s a little bit too good and I’m not sure he makes it to us at our pick in the second. With the additions of Jacob and E- Man I think our defense goes to top 5 in the league. We would have a duo of linebackers that rival anything we’ve had in our past. I’m not a GM so I don’t know what the possible answer could be, but if there’s a way we can comfortably trade up in the second to secure this guy I think we find a way to do it.    Spend the rest of our picks fixing the O - line.    Thoughts Panthers fans? Who’s the ideal duo for yall?
    • OL is arguably much more important to the success of a young QB. (Or any QB)
    • Didn’t get around to watching this one but looks like Pistons played their starters and actually tried…? Unlucky that they sit vs Magic, etc and try vs us. Hopefully we can beat the Heat and then Magic or 6ers with no Embiid. BUT if not, the NBA really should give us the lottery win this year like they did Mavs last year. Another high pick could be our final missing piece and have us as legit top contenders next year and going forward if we’re healthy. Or trade it for a Giannis type
