I do.  I can't root for guys I don't vibe with.  I am also big on locker rooms gelling.

For example, I was glad Greg Hardy got the boot, even though he is talented.

I feel the things he has said are more than simply being religious, but to each their own.  Not going to get into it here.

As I said in the other post, I don't want to hear about certain things about players.

I would just much rather them keep something like that private.  The ones who publicly speak on stuff like that tend to be a little nutty in my opinion.

I just don't need to know some things.  For example, I don't care to know any players sexual orientation, even though I have nothing against whatever they may be.  I just don't want to hear it.

Just because they're famous, doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to speak their mind, no matter what it's about.  If they're talking about things that then cause a distraction for the team, then I'll take issue to them doing so, but on that basis only, beyond that, I really couldn't care in this instance.

And really?  Sexual orientation is the example you used?  Beyond players talking about their wifes (so assuming they're straight), there's been what, 2 players to ever come out as gay?

I view being in the public eye like I do running a business.  I wouldn't want to alienate "customers" by having a stance on something that should be personal like that.

I used that example, because that is something he has been vocal about being against.  I have no idea how many players have come out as gay, as I don't think it matters when it comes to football.

I watch football to watch football.  Let's just stick to what we are here for?

I see what you're saying, but I think it's just different for athletes.

If a business alienates a potential customer, the customer will go somewhere else for their needs.  There is not there NFL, or NBA, or whatever.  They're the only game in town and like any other rich or famous person, they like to use their platform to support the causes they believe in, a right they've earned through a lifetime of hard work to get into that position.

And because all teams have players from all sides of societal or political viewpoints, to me it's all a wash in the end with team sports.  If you don't want to be a big fan of a specific player because they speak up on their stances, so be it, but flat out not wanting them on your team because of it is a little too far in my book when they can help your team win.

You're not rooting for a woman or child abuser in that situation, or an animal abuser in the case of Vick (another player I would never have been okay with on my team), even if you strongly disagree with whatever they do believe in themselves.

I don't want to have to think about that stuff watching football.  If they voice that, I can't help but have an opinion, and I would rather not.

I understand they have a right to their opinion.  I just don't care for it.

I guess Butker did it "outside of work", but still.  If I had never heard it, I would have likely still thought "well" of him, and I just prefer that reality.

We will see what happened when games start having stakes.
He was fine until he played games where the stakes were very high.
The Lions and Rams games stick out like a sore thumb.

He was horrible in those ones. Jared Goff seems to play bad also when the stakes are high.

Not surprised. I fully expect a professional QB to mature and lead a pro team after they turn 27. Panthers had Darnold when he was 24/25. A team needs to be built to win before inserting a younger QB as they will need to be carried and protected

It's a waste of time and draft capital to go after a young QB in the top 20 picks.

And we should have kept Harrison Bukner.  This franchise is poo. But what can we do about it

I'm glad we don't have him, actually. Gano played as well as he did, and isn't a massive turd either.

Kicker is the least of our problems right now. QB eval is.

    • The aversion to tying up too much money in the ground game when it’s what’s winning us games is crazy to me. I get letting Rico walk if you think he’s easily replaceable but I don’t see many people arguing that, just applying an arbitrary salary cap based on what we think RBs are currently worth. I’d rather be stuck with Hubbard as an overpaid backup (not the worst one to have, mind you) than lose out on the most productive player on the offense personally.
    • Why do people keep saying things like “it’s not Young’s fault we spent so much to draft him”? Who cares if it’s his fault?  Nobody is saying send him to jail or anything.  People aren’t talking about blame for the decision to draft him, they’re talking about how bad he is as a QB and how we’d be much better with even an average QB.  Pointing out that we sunk a lot of resources into drafting him isn’t invalidated because he didn’t make that decision himself. Doesn’t matter whose fault that was, he’s still not playing like a QB who was drafted at all, much less one that cost two firsts, two seconds and a #1 WR.
