Bryce is a good kid.  Everything I see about him makes me like him.  OFF THE FIELD

But he is not going to take us to the promised land.  Dude has an 11 and 25 record.

For every game he wins he loses 2

He's 5-3 this year. NFL is the epitome of "what have you done for me lately" business. Bryce isn't good but nobody should care about his rookie season record, just like they don't about Darnold's

we should care about his limited production and focus more on what he does and doesn't vs what the collective team is able to pull off.

Yeah that's why I'm already bracing myself for his 3-4yr 30mm/year extension that's a "discount for a good QB" or whatever logic is used to spin it.

The Panthers will be the Panthers no matter how many names change. Just gotta laugh and roll with it.

I get the sense most folks on this forum skew a little older. We’ve all watched enough football to know the difference between a Hall of Famer and a guy who just isn’t it.

If you’re still looking at what Bryce brings and convincing yourself he’s something he’s not, you’re just holding on to the wish that we didn’t screw up the #1 pick.

I'm not, he doesn't have it... I just think bringing up his overall record is is irrelevant, especially since we've seen QB's in bad situations with bad teams go somewhere else and start winning, its just short sighted thinking

back in my younger days I used to try to wish players good.    At this point, I now know a Josh Norman bad to great story is just something that can randomly happen.  But you can't put stock and build off such beliefs.  Those are random examples, you almost never see those coming.

3 years in, if you don't pass the eye test.....it's just the right call to play the odds that they ain't got it.  Because it's basically overwhelmingly the right call.

Word is the media team asked Jaycee to go hug Bryce so they could take a pic

Right, because if football players think their teammates suck at the game that means they dont like them in general as well...yeah that's how it works.

the only guy you are talking about is darnold, his skill set has always been exceptional but mentally he implodes in pressure, we saw it last year.  Lets wait and see what happens as the year progresses with him.

Young, Tarkenton, and Brees were all “short” for their eras.
Doug Flutie was downright tiny.

Every one of them had a superpower to offset it, something that made their height irrelevant.

I like the kid. I really do.

But a superpower?

Nah.

And Tarkenton in particular played in an ancient era by today’s standards.
The linemen were smaller and slower too. On average. The game wasn’t as fast, front to back. IMO anyway.
I don’t think he could play today, the way he was known for playing back then.
One thing, when they did catch you they could hurt you then with no penalty. You had to be really tough to play QB in those days.

What I like most about Bryce is that he plays well in the clutch.  That’s arguably the most important thing and you can’t teach that.

If he could just start making some chunk plays here and there I actually do think he could be the guy. I’m not convinced yet but he’s the best option we have right now.

Right now maybe. But is it really worth locking in for two more years, or three more without seeing more?
