Surprised to see this from you tbh, but I know it sucks. I wanted him to work out for us.

Time to move on is right. And the worst part is we are basically forced to continue to play him for the next few weeks because our only other QB might be the only player in the NFL worse than him.

Nothing could be much worse than yesterday. Canales hid him as long as he could. As soon as he asked him to do something the floodgates opened.
I was thinking just hold auditions every week.

Same crap different year. If Bryce isn't playing at his worst, which is actually difficult due to how bad that was, those people will keep hoping. His improvement got him to 'should be replaced soon' backup level but if you keep looking at where he came from then there is some kind of sad hope he isn't at his ceiling already. I doubt his crew will really turn on him but just say shucks when the team finally dumps his arse. Waiting on the blind to see is a lot like waiting on Bryce to turn into a decent starter.

They don’t want to see. Is it a ‘safe space thing? Who knows….

Dallas was his ceiling, and he has not been able to raise his floor.

Playing at his best when the RB has over 200 yards lol. Yeah that tracks

He played well for the whole game.  It wasn’t any of the suck for three quarters and do just enough to win.
The worst or almost worst defense in tne league. You get into the middle rankings, nope.

It was the worst D choking on Rico's revenge. 'Playing well' behind that was just not making mistakes. It's a gift and allowed him to get his QBR to a whopping 53.1 and the only player with over 50 yards receiving was...Rico. A sub 200 yard game agaisnt one of the worst Ds with the RB going off like crazy. That's nuts lol

Ahh yes, Bryce's superpower:  making middle aged forum dudes lose it!

I'm sure I'd be lumped into the Nut Hugger category since I started the season pretty measured, and I can admit when he makes some good plays.  So flame on?

The reality is that Bryce has shown he's good at the subtle aspects of being a quarterback.  The gamesmanship, those quick twitchy movements to get a pass off.  Those are some good plays he's made, but they results in a 12 yard play.  This season, when going down the field (a rarity) he's been pretty much a turd.  The moment seems to big for Bryce.  I'm glad he got mad yesterday, but the only person he should be mad at is the one who he sees when he brushes his teeth.

Bryce isn't the guy.  We're just kind of stuck right now with a middling QB class in 26.  So what do we do?  I think we're stuck with Bryce playing for at least next season.  I think the Panthers NEED to go get a young vet QB to push him.  Time and development are important, but Bryce has had plenty of time right now.  He's not developing.

I want Bryce to do well because that means my Panthers do well.  But I think it's pretty apparent that Bryce Young is not a franchise QB.  He's a back up level player.  We swung hard and missed.

He dooms us to probably a losing record. Haven’t we had enough of that? Take a chance.
Houston’s backup killed it yesterday.
There are other backups around the league better than Bryce. They couldn’t be that expensive to acquire.

Jake was a backup put on a good team.

    • Either way there's some tough teams on the schedule this year, on paper anyways.
    • Same. I would prefer a MNF game earlier in the season. As if more likely has some significance in case things go south this season. If we perform well enough we could even get another game forced to a Sunday night spot later in the season.
    • Wanted to jump into this thread. Although I do not post anymore I do look in as there are a few old friends around. Loved hearing some of the names you mentioned.  Another  oldie is NanceUSMC.  He is the one who got me here from the old Observer forum.  Good guy and smart football guy. I have learned a lot from a lot of good Huddlers over the years, Over time. we have sadly lost a few who left this earth too soon.  Anyone who know of someone, it would be nice to try to make a list.  One of the more recent, CosmoGirl,  was someone that kind of hit hard.  Life sucks sometimes. Some of the best times were when we had our own tailgate and could meet up in person.  I think it made us better. Several dedicated volunteers, lead by LiverMush, started setting things up in the wee hours of each gameday morning.  Don't know all those regulars but I remember JakeFlake was one.  For you newbies...each game,  a Huddler (or a group) sponsored the food for each tailgate.  Eating was free but a donation was asked for.  At the end of the year those donations were used to buy bicycles for Toys for Tots.  Over the years Huddlers bought a lot of new bikes for kids for Christmas.  (I am guessing a couple of hundred each year.)  We had a good time getting together, got to make friends in person, and then got to feel like you were doing something good. It was truly a community. I got to meet Dan Morgan at one of our tailgates...he brought pizza from his restaurant.  How many of you remember that?  Glad the restaurant did not make it....lol. Not only have people changed, and come and gone.....but the entire nature and purpose has changed. Nothing lasts forever and we move on but we still like to think about good times. Same reason we take pictures. Want to ask a question I have not seen anyone else mention......who remembers    "The Couch" ?  We have argued, laughed, lived the ups and downs of football and dealt with a little real life along the way.  A thanks to  the Mods who keep this going.  I am sure they sacrifice a lot of their time out of love for the forum and the Panthers. Take care my friends and be well.  I will close with my new favorite quote which I think is greatly needed in these difficult times.
