Sports betting

This is much ado about nothing. Sports gambling has existed in the US forever and it has legally existed outside the US for a significant portion of time. The reason these scandals are caught(again, this happens internationally) is because sports books combat this stuff so heavily and there is a ton of software specifically designed to ID this stuff.

Sports betting and cheating has existed as long as organized sports. It's easier to ID when it's legal because it isn't masked by illegal enterprises.

I don’t know. I guess because there is just so much money that will be fixed in it. There will be more question and attention paid to questionable calls and games. I do worry though that the sportsbooks themselves will work with the league or news outlets to push false or misleading media to sway betters a certain way (if they don’t do that already).

Overall, it's not good. You have the major online betting sites funneling tons of advertising money and the leagues are happy to take it 1) for the direct advertising money and 2) the gambling drives additional viewership increasing possible advertising value. Anytime there's a lot of money being slung around people are going to try to figure out a way to get their piece of that action, legal or not. I don't know what the answer is. I'm not for blanket banning stuff because it generally just leads to shady black market stuff, but seems like it shouldn't be advertised so heavily. Treat the marketing like tobacco marketing. Like yeah, you can go to the store and buy it but you're not gonna be inundated with commercials about it.

I set limits on it day one on all the books I use so even if I got the urge to over do it I can't. Honestly every year you should be required to submit your tax return from the previous year and there should be a capped amount you're allowed to gamble. They would never do that but it would probably help a lot of people

Sports and betting go together like peanut butter and jelly. 

And it generates more interest for the game when people have invested interest in them. 

But yea with that does come corruption, but theres a 50% percent chance you're right or wrong and those odds are alot better than other investments.
