We don’t need to draft a QB if Canales stays.   We don’t need to keep the inheriting other people’s  decision thing going.

Canales would have to earn the right with a vet to stick around.  Otherwise, you most likely are letting Canales draft a QB you think force on the next staff.  Thats not how it should work.  See us now.

All the hiring and firing we do, we never clean house properly.

you anever know when a class is actually going to be good or not.  The Trevor/Fields class was supposed to be an awesome time to draft a QB at this point

Not opposed to drafting a guy to develop but I too favor the trade or FA route.

Why not just draft him if we had interest in him? Why would you give the Browns a pick a round up from what they spent to draft a guy their coaches are hellbent on not playing? People gotta realize that dude looked like the hottest trash except for when he was playing against our camp bodies.

I of course have no idea, but I suspect they did not want to give up on Bryce at that time and drafting another QB would have sent the wrong message to Bryce.  Picking NFL QBs is a crapshoot and even sound franchises miss and I'd be willing to throw a 4th rounder to see if Shedeur can make it.  I think he's better than Bryce which I know isn't saying much.

As a fyi, Carolina played its starters against Cleveland for part of the game and he still lit them up.

He did not light up any starters or even any primary backups. He didn't start playing well until we cleared the bench.

Why would you be willing to trade a 4th for a guy just drafted in the 5th who's done nothing?

    • Yes that's what I was talking about. Scourton was open  about the issues but kept the who to himself.  I did think that Ickey was after him but apparently not.
    • Huh I thought it was the rookie first. That's even better. Good on Ickey. I guess it really is player led thing
    • my brief summation.   1. Who is it that was lackadaisical?  Was it Young  Ickey was referring to 2.  Canales continues to say the ‘me to connection ; ie qb to receivers is failing  3.  Young a great guy but not right as starter for the panthers   However, after 2.5 years,  too much bad play and too much inconsistency with a stable coaching staff and weapons References Mark Schlerth’s  comments… Young  couldn’t complete passes downfield     4. Mentions failures with Young due to Tepper in 2023  possibly did damage to Young    Maybe young needs a fresh start   So do the Panthers    wants to see Canales getting a 3rd year with his chosen QB   Cox counters, Maye had a bad situation in his rookie year but excelled this year  5. Discussed Young’s data on metric of ‘catchable pass rate’  the metric shows          A.   Young fails on catchable passes other than 0 to 9 yards            B.  McMillan is most effective 10 to 19  as one example, of WRs not being allowed to be at their best yardage             C     all 22 shows Legette is open a lot and ignored  6. Lea discusses the impact of losing Thielen on Young I.e. given young’s comfort with short passes, young misses Thielen   Young is starting to replace Adam with Jatevon  Sanders and he makes the decision before the snap to go to him regardless
