Canales is telling us, but we aren’t listening

There’s no bigger pussy on that sideline than Dave Canales. When your head coach and QB are such betas, you have no chance.

We had Mike Vrabel slated for an interview. Can you imagine Vrabel in the middle of year 2 and watching Bryce Young attempting and utterly failing at playing QB against the 1-8 Saints? Suffice to say he wouldn't be indirectly blowing smoke to the media. He would have assuredly already had a viable alternative on the roster and pivoted to that guy regardless of what the GM or the owner thinks because he would do what is best for his football team.

That is why Vrabel is not here.
I was always about the strong defensive minded hard ass as a leader model and would have taken him gladly.

Dalton was resigned since he is the least likely to threaten Bryce’s starting job. Any younger JAG would appear far superior in the preseason.

BY is Tepper’s guy. Tepper has shown 0 apprehension cutting bait… so give one logical reason why T has allowed this debacle to continue this long with this incredible level of suck unless it is deeply personal. Is it for the sake of trying to not meddle? Please.

If Dan had somehow convinced T that BY would be legit, both Dan and Bryce would be long gone by now, but Bryce is still starting games and NO legit backup was signed. Why is that. Dan has been given leeway to improve every other position group, and absolutely has, except QB. Is QB somehow his kryptonite? The guy who made a living out of terrorizing QBs thinks BY is a franchise QB and doesn’t need to go? I’m not believing that one.

Just imagine preseason games where the backup is connecting with lasers and your starter can barely complete a 15 yard duck. Talk about a bad look and guaranteed QB controversy. That was never going to be allowed.

Oh he said a lot. He’s spreading blame. It’s a classic tactic for shielding a single person. You spread it out evenly so instead of one person getting hit with a club, everyone gets a tap on the hand. You protect the individual but eventually lose everyone else after the hand taps add up.

He’s going to rug flip him, watch. He's playing the nice guy “trying to make him successful” and defend him, and protect him, and then towards the end of the year, he’s going to rip the rug out from under him.

I call it the "sawed off shotgun effect" A good spread covers everything. Instead of calling out the one who's screwing up, they lay the blame at everyone's feet.

Maybe the rumor Big Tep's wife pushed for Young is true

no doubt.  I have zero faith in Bryce Young.  But if the Panthers employed me tomorrow and a reporter point blank asked me if I believed in player Bryce Young being able to do doing Y.....I would at least lie and say yes and then say a bunch of gobbly goo about it's not just about him.

I thought Dave choosing not to endorse his belief on Bryce when asked straight up there was either he spits SO MUCH bologna he forgot the technical right bologna and isn't even really listening to any questions....or water is just so wet he can't directly lie when it is that narrowed down.

I'd rather hear a Bill Belichick non-answer than that horseshit he was shoveling.

Totally in alignment with this reasoning.

Once it is determined the Panthers are out of the playoffs, I would like to see QB Mike White play a game.

I have followed QB Trey Lance a long, and he is an  upcoming free agent I am hoping the Panthers try to sign. Trey checks all the right boxes and would be an ideal replacement to Bryce Young who I hope is on his way out.

I am of the opinion we need to bring in a solid veteran who can potentially start for most of next season and at least one gamble. Either a bust QB like Lance/Wilson/etc or a rookie QB.

Let's get some shots on goal at the position.

I agree. Tepper was hot to trot to dump Cam in a heartbeat and so many QB's after him.

Bryce is the golden child. Tepper's vision for a QB.

If he is getting significant playing time after this season is concluded it will be directly a David Tepper problem. Like so many of our problems are.

If Young is starting for this team next season I am turning in my PSLs after 30 years. I can't watch BY try to play QB any longer.

I was amped up to be able to get rid of my PSL's and not take a bath. I can assure you I will never own tickets nor attend an event in that stadium while David Tepper is getting any of the proceeds.

Same with merch, same with anything that benefits his continual ruining of this franchise.

My ideal  plan would have Trey Lance step right in next year as the starting QB and have Mike White as the back up.

I would have more confidence that they could both do the job than try depending on getting an older veteran QB that  are scarce and hard to find.available.

    • I feel like this trade just lives rent free in people's heads and keeps morphing into different things. First thing is that the rumored trade was for future firsts. They wouldn't have any extra picks in 2023; the firsts would have been for 2024 and 2025. With very few exceptions, NFL GMs don't value picks that far away. You have to have a lot of job security to pull that off. Like Chiefs, Eagles, Rams kinda stability. That's obviously not the case with David Tepper, especially since he'd just fired his head coach. No GM except for like Howie Roseman is going to trade an asset you have now for a future asset you probably get to use.  Second, at the time you'd have to assume these are first rounders late in the first round. Obviously currency is currency and the panthers need young players, but these weren't slam dunk top ten picks. At the end of the day there's one pick that separates a first and second round pick.  Lastly, the only place that ever reported this trade was the Rams. All the reporters just repeated what McVay said and it became gospel. We have no idea how serious the negotiations were, if they ever really happened, if the offer was real, etc. And I personally believe McVay and Sneed are the kind of guys who would make up rumors like that to fug up other teams, mostly because I assume if I've thought of it someone smarter than me has.  I don't know how you'd call it the greatest draft haul of all time. Firsts quickly lose their value the farther out they are and Burns had 16.5 sacks last season. And anyway those picks would probably just been tossed into the burning inferno of the Bryce trade up so it's a moot point anyway.
