Yeah I’ve seen it. It scares me cause I hate investing a lot of money in a player. Too many variables, from injuries to them getting the bag and not caring anymore.

With Motons deal (stupid), Hunt, Lewis and Mayes and Icky upcoming our line is going to be the most expensive again in the nfl.   Its going to be an interesting snap shot if this type of team building works.

Very much so, IMO it's going to be a must for Morgan to hit it big in the next 2 drafts.  I think if he can fill the roster with good offensive linemen, we can afford to lose Lewis and Hunt down the line.  Icky will be a cornerstone, we need to keep Mays and Christensen and find a new RT in the draft to replace Moton when his contract is up.

I cannot remember about Lewis but I am sure Hunt is here for 3 more years regardless because of the structure of the contract.  Ill look it up my meeting

I think Hunt has an out after next year so we need to draft a RG to learn under him.

You have to restock somehow. And you can’t pay everybody. By the time the WRs and QB are due for the big money you need to have a way figured that the OL can have some rookie contracts to offset that.

Like I said in another post yesterday, the handling of the offensive line by Fitterer and mostly Morgan has been crazy. We've spent way too much money(Lewis and Hunt) to keep Bryce upright instead of using our picks in the 2nd round on JPJ and Frazier. Could have kept an injured Corbett at guard, Brady at swing, and still taken Maye as a backup, sorry Zavala. We wouldn't have taken XL, but XL hasn't been as advertised anyway, and Brooks hasn't contributed anything.

Moton's extension with it's signing bonus made him uncutable. Icky's contract was due at the same time Bryce's 3rd year ended, and we all know it's extension or 5th year, and if we're going to do a 5th year, he's going to want the extension.

To me the whole thing is just ridiculous. Right now, depending on if Tepper decides to keep Bryce, it feels like we're going to have to choose between Icky and a Bryce extension. Maybe he plays on the 5th year, but I think he'll want the big money guarantee.

JMO, but if you took a look at how the contracts could potentially fall, the writing was on the wall that this could be a cash flow nightmare. Too many contract guarantees, not enough rookie contracts to offset the upcoming paydays.

I think in light of the timing of that OL upgrade I must overlook it.
It wasn’t like the situation allowed a better planned upgrade that would involve developing players, at least according to ownership’s priority on making Bryce work NOW. They didn’t have time to build it the right way, and you have to overpay to get top guys on a 2-15 team.

It wasn’t ideal, no.

The Moton thing I look at in a vacuum. Apart from the interior guys. I have a vague notion of a ridiculous cap situation leading to the ridiculous extension. Got my speed throttled on the phone here and over the cap.com didn’t want to load so I didn’t look it up.
Bit after watching Nijman in some games last year I would not (have) felt good at all about no Moton.
This is all resulting from the urgency or impatience or whatever you call it around removing the excuses for Bryce.

You would hope that with a more settled situation there the building and maintaining of the roster could be addressed using a less extreme approach.
