I just don't think the QB upgrade is there without doing something stupid again

There are definitely Vets or FA or draftees that are just as good if not better and don't cost 35+ million to sign like Bryce's 5th year would be.

I still subscribe to the camp we void his 5th and if he balls out in 2026 let the chips fall where they may.

I think all of Scot’s points stand decoy the 5th year option being guaranteed.  If you’re Dan Morgan or Canales, are you worried about letting Bryce walk and facing him as an opponent?  I would be licking my chops to play him.  I think that should be the measure of whether you lock him in.  FO would be remiss if they believe they can’t find multiple QBs out there right now who are an upgrade over Bryce.  If they want to keep him and bring in legit competition so be it.  What we absolutely cannot do is go into another season with him being coddled and the only option to legitimately start.

I don't really disagree.

But my argument is based on  will, not should...

No it isnt. He's been the worst QB in the NFL since entering thr league. Anyone with common sense is not signing his 5th year option. Tepper is making him the highest paid QBin NFL history.

Do you really believe that Dave Canales, Dan Morgan and David Tepper agree with any of this?

I don't.

Re: Bryce and his option... there are still 4 games left to play. I think what happens down the stretch still matters, and if he keeps flashing mercurially like he has been, I don't think us locking in the option is guaranteed.

the bar for a 5th year option is much low than the bar for getting extension, they want to give Bryce every change to succeed. yall focusing on the wrong things, he was never not getting his 5th year

I disagree, giving bryce the 5th essentially is putting both Morgans and Daves job in Youngs hand.  You think they are comfortable with that?

We would be fools if we don’t lock up the option. Though inconsistent, he is moving in an upward trajectory.

The problem is, if we keep getting him all these weapons and OL for him to have success, eventually we can’t keep bringing in assets because of cap space. So they won’t all be here together forever and then what? Oh, that doesn’t even include not building the defense up. Wasting time and assets of giving him more and more chances will bite us in the ass, hard. He’s had plenty of chances and he’s been the same guy since his rookie years how many chances should they give him?

So in your opinion, 1 game is enough justification to exercise the 5th?  No offense but thats moronic at best

Again, this is not a statement of opinion. This is a prediction of what's going to happen.

I normally don't do that sort of thing, but it's valid in this case.

Will...not should...
