I've argued before in this thread that the early season mediocrity isn't just Bryce.

Very few NFL teams look great all season. Some start slow but get better. Others start strong but fade. The difference is offseason preparation and pacing throughout the aeason.

Under Canales, the whole team comes out of the gate looking like sh-t, but they finish the season looking like winners. His in-season coaching and pacing seems to be solid. The offseason part...not so much 😕

That's why I want them to bring someone aboard who can coach Canales up on his offseason preparation. That includes helping Bryce get up to speed because what we're doing with him now obviously isn't cutting it.

Well we can certainly attest that regardless of Bryce and Canales highs and lows the roster as a whole does have enough talent for us to compete for the division and the playoffs. And the plus side is this is a very young team.

In all honesty yes the Panthers offseasons the last couple of years have been a little too much good vibes only and sunshine and rainbows.

Canales has the potential to be the Panthers head coach for the next several years.

We are seeing the makings of what appears to be a culture shift but unfortunately we're walking a razor thin line between that and full on catastrophe until we can string together consistent convincing wins. I sincerely hope to see it to finish the season.

I've been iffy on Canales till now but this season has put me in his corner. He certainly still has areas that need improvement, but I do believe he can be "the guy".

Admittedly, what I had hoped for was a chance to see Canales with a different quarterback. That particular scenario now looks to be, at the very least, a few seasons away.

Gotta say also that we'd be remiss to have an offseason discussion and not reference Dan Morgan and the front office. What I see from there (especially since the addition of Brandt Tilis) is starting to look pretty positive.

Here's hoping...

Bryce is better than last year; worlds better than the year before.

as a starter (12 games vs 12 games).  Sets up perfectly given the week we fall on.

2024 - 195 pass yards per game, 20 rush yards per game, 21 TDs, 11 turnovers

2025 - 194 pass yards per game, 10 rush yards per game, 19 TDs, 13 turnovers

that sure looks like less offense and more turnovers this year vs last year as the starting QB.   I mean, you don't have to call it worse.  Not sure how you get better out of it.

By wins, and by what I see on the field...

And come on, dude. You know I don't go by stats. If you're posting them for the sake of others, fine. But you've debated me enough times to know that's not gonna sway me 😄

Oh, so not individual performance/production.  So you can have less production, more turnovers.....but if the team wins, you are better.

so Xavier Legette is better this year? or is this a Bryce exclusive that winning trumps individual  performance/production?

and I'm more of an eyeball guy.  And Bryce is pretty much the same dude as last year off that.  The defense and rush attack has looked different.   And when you get clear improvement from units and other things stay the same.  More wins is normally the outcome.

I haven't looked at Bryce's comparative stats because I don't care.

Remember, early season we went with a very run heavy aproach. Passing stats were bound to be minimized in those game plans.

If you do wanna focus on individual production though, you can't just look at the bad games. You have to account for the phenomenal near 400 yard game he had just a few weeks ago.

He's shown what he can do. That's undeniable.

But again, it all comes back to the consistency question.

To be fair, Jake Delhomme has more than three years under his belt when he came to us.

Bryce has shown legitimate improvement season over season. I don't think we can deny that.

He has? Because he is still the same inconsistent QB that makes me wonder if the offense is gonna be bad or good.

Never felt that way with Delhomme or Cam. During both their prime when they were on the field I felt we had a chance. Can’t say that with Bryce.
Also comparing Bryce to Delhomme is not a good comp. Kinda like saying well Warner was 28 when he got his chance. But Warner actually showed elite traits before he was even with the Rams.
