Bryce might be the most frustrating player we've ever had.

He would need to average at least 250 passing 3 tds and record 4 wins for me to want them to pick up that option.  Of course I know if we don't he will somehow turn into a Brees/Mahomes combo next year and put up 5k and 40 tds lol

Yeah, I suppose if he was at 250+, 3+ TD's and 4-0 it wouldn't make much sense to NOT pick up the 4th.

I am in the camp of not really being concerned about the "WELL IF HE LEAVES HE WILL BE GREAT ELSEWHERE" scenarios. I just don't see that being the case.

Hey, I am happy to be right(I was an OG Byrce stan), then to be wrong(I am completely off the Bryce bandwagon) and then find out I was right in the first place. It would be much better for him to just suddenly figure it out and be an NFL QB.

I just don't think that is going to be the case. At best, he seems like he may slowly be developing into a middling #2 QB. That's not a good return on a #1 overall draft pick.

LMAO.  You told people to quit lying and are billing these as great Bryce Young games?  The Bryce blur in full effect.   You can't sell a stat sheet when everyone here watched the game.

He was not great vs the Cardinals 2024 (Hubbard was great)

He was not great vs the Cardinals in 2025 (He was horrific and lost the game by half, and the Cards gave him checkdowns to bleed clock)

Dolphins and Cowboys - Rico was great.  All time franchise history great.

He was not great vs the Rams.  Two really dumb and risky plays by Dave on 4th down worked out great but everyone watching that game saw a team hid the QB for 98% of the game.  I mean, credit to Bryce for making them.  He did.  But it was not a game where the eyeball test says that was great QB performance.  Good Panther performance.

He has 2 great games vs the Falcons.  One pretty good one vs the Packers last year when they had people from the concessions stand playing in the secondary if memory serves.

Lmfoa  FIFY and counting any games as good that occure after the team is playoff eliminated is low brow.

None of the touchdown pasess yesterday came from blown coverages. I’m not sure you know what blown coverage is. We’re so used to seeing our WR’s create no kind of separation that we think any space they create is blown coverage. 😂😂

IMO, I wouldn't ink that 5th year option unless he DOES ball out these last few games. I won't be furious if it does happen but I do think it will be a mistake when it's looked at in hindsight.

I just think you have to crack the top 25 starting QB's in the NFL to even be considered for that 5th year option. Does it set up the franchise for a tough financial decision a year earlier if he balls out in 2026? Yes. But would that situation differ if it was a tough 2026 on the 4th year and a baller 2027 on the 5th?

Ultimately, the body of work has conclusively and without almost any question shown he is not a franchise QB. It's generally unwise to consider massively expensive and long term commitments if that isn't the case. Otherwise you end up in the Trevor Lawrence scenario.

It's going to be a very interesting last 4 games and an even more interesting offseason on the Bryce front. I really don't have a read on what direction they plan to go. I have suspicions but not an actual read.

Thats a valid argument.  I cant tell whet they are gonna do and they prob dont really know yet either.  Ultimately they do need someone to play QB and I think the 5th gives them a little more time to figure out who that person is.  If the upcoming draft class was loaded with QBs i'd prob feel different.

Good news is they have a while before hey have to decide on the 5th.  I think May 1st is the deadline?

No, they weren't blown coverages.  They were man coverages vs a defense playing 4th and short......and Dave took big gambles and they paid off.

The poster said good/great. He had over 220 total yards and 3 touchdowns vs Cardinals.

Our offensive line was the biggest cause of the errors vs Cardinals this year. He was good overall.

Bryce was good vs Dolphins, great vs Cowboys (you’re allowed to say that two players on offense had great games).

He played great against the Rams 147 passer rating. I believe it’s top 3 all time for the franchise.

we got folks once again having willful amnesia.....

let's talk about something that isn't a wild outcome.  This board flying high as a kite......and Bryce going into New Orleans and having his routine bad game vs the Saints.....and we lose.  Bryce averages 147 yards vs the Saints in his career and lots turnovers.  Suddenly, the front page will have 78 cut Bryce Young immediately threads and a lot of those people will have called picking up his 5th year a no brainer at this point.

And most quarterbacks aren’t completing those. Those were perfect passes. It’s a reason why the defense set up that way - not many QBs are attempting that throw.

again, Hubbard was great vs the Cardinals last year.  Not Bryce.  Bryce was treated like a backup QB that entire game.

this seasons Cardinals game, he was literally THE reason we lost that game.  Horrific play by Bryce.  Garbage time 2nd half yards throwing 3 yard downfield to TEs/RBs to bleed clock.

There is actual great QB performances.....and there is good for Bryce.  Most of the games you listed.....are not great performances by a NFL QB.  Or even good.  It's the Bryce blur.

Miami is another one.  We got down thanks to Bryce and Rico ran us back into that game.  Almost comical the degree Canales was no longer going to let him throw the ball at one point. Stat sheets lie.  Watching the game doesn't.

Lying? What is the above? If what you say is lying, is lying, you are just as guilty.

Packers 2023 was basically the 4th quarter. And it was really good but it was basically maybe 1/3 of the game.
And you will recall he followed that up with two 0 point efforts to finish the year.
What happened in the 1st half of this years Cardinals game? Who won it?
Miami, he made three or four good passes after putti g us in a deep hole all by himself, and Rico and the OL crushed it to take control of that game.

Dallas this year he had crap numbers but played well for all 4 quarters which sort of stood alone. That isn’t what he usually does. (And it was a very good game by him).

Yesterday, was really good. Absolutely. Answered probably my biggest criticism by throwing the ball downfield.

That LA defense was asleep. And I am grateful to them.
That poo is on film now, Let’s see what adjustments get made because that was too easy. If it was your defense that gave it up you would be screaming how did you let that guy beat you over the top?

I mean, that's not true.  They were just lofted balls vs man coverage.  You are portraying unique to Bryce as unique for a good QB.

now, not many QBs are being put into those playcalls.  Correct.  Dave likes to ask Bryce to throw downfield on short yardage plays where a defense gets in man to play the run/short yardage.  We have seen it often this year.   I mean, I can go find literally the exact same Coker play on short yardage from earlier in the year.   It's basically Dave gambling on the fact Bryce stinks and doesn't go downfield......in the most advantageous scenario that could present itself.

Bryce Young had 2 throws over 10 yards the entire game.   That answered your question?? And the 2 total throws.....basically were playing into the fact Bryce doesn't go downfield, the D had to play short, and were really low % bad playcalls.  It's the fine of dumb and great.  People have called those plays idiotic all year.

    • You got that right  on replays, you could clearly see the Rams  oline holding over and over and over again
    • Careful.... you put him in the Louvre, he will get stolen.....
    • Because you don't bring in competition if you're paying your QB 27m. Look at what we did with Darnold and Mayfield. He's either your guy or he isn't. Hes not playing on the final year and most agents aren't going to let a 5th year stand. They'll push for the extension now. If we're willing to do the 5th year, why aren't we willing to do the extension? That's why I didn't care what the win loss record was this year. We needed to know if Bryce is the franchise QB or not. At the end of the year we have to make a decision that locks us in to Bryce for the next 5 or we move on. Now maybe his agent doesn't play hard ball with the Panthers, but I don't see that happening. Most likely we decide Bryce's future in Carolina at the end of this season. Extend, trade or cut. That's the most likely scenario based on history. Bryce's play over the past 3 years, are you paying him 50m a season? And who are you letting walk to do it? Give Bryce his extension and Icky is all but gone. Can't pay everyone on that line and there are too many bonuses that will be accelerated. It's not so simple as just play him on the 5th year.
