Hell, Denver assumed The Golden Calf of Bristol could play NFL football to the tune of many millions and Newton actually has better QB numbers than The Golden Calf of Bristol did coming out of school, and you can't make that assumption?

The Golden Calf of Bristol did what Newton did for 3 years. Not saying that makes him a better pro QB than The Golden Calf of Bristol......but he did not have better stats. He did statistically for one season, what The Golden Calf of Bristol did like 3 times.

The only reason The Golden Calf of Bristol didn't go in the top ten was because he has serious flaws in his throwing mechanics. Newton does not have that concern. He has footwork concerns but between footwork and throwing mechanics footwork is a relatively easy fix.

Good point. But be honest. If he came out you were ready to take him. His one hit wonder didn't matter in that case I guess. Only with Cam.

Actually Tbone I was one of the guys that didn't want him and about got ran from this board about 2-3 months ago for it.

I don't want a guy that hasn't performed well for at least two full college seasons. I am just that way. Hell bradford had 88TD's in two seasons at OU and was trying to come back for a 3rd! I take him in a heart beat.

I have said this before and will say so again...Andy Dalton. 4 years this kid has played and improved. He can run, he can lead, he can read defenses, make every throw and is accurate. I sit him for two years and develop him. If we had a 2nd rounder I take him or hope he is there with our 3rd rounder.

The Golden Calf of Bristol has a long delivery, that is all. Cam cant read defenses as well as The Golden Calf of Bristol did, he only did it for one year vs 3 years and two national championships for The Golden Calf of Bristol. The Golden Calf of Bristol didn't have the character red flags and etc.

Apples and oranges.

The beating out The Golden Calf of Bristol argument is just dumb. Jesus couldn't have beaten out The Golden Calf of Bristol @ Florida.

It is legit argument. Cam lovers say he is a once in a lifetime talent. Really? They put the best QB's on the team on the field each saturday in college football, so why wasn't Cam out there instead of The Golden Calf of Bristol? Because he wasn't better than him.

Now all of a sudden after one season he is going to be a better pro prospect? No.

Are you serious???? It makes perfect sense. Why would anyone bench mr perfect all american The Golden Calf of Bristol. If you have an icon people love and respect and is playing at an all american level, you do not take him out for some unproven back up. This is the way college has always worked. You get in line and wait your turn.

I've heard from the start Cam could well be more talented than The Golden Calf of Bristol, but why risk it to take him out if you got a good thing going? Cam was not some 3 star coming out and was a elite prospect in his own right. Many don't know coming out of high school he was viewed as a pocket passer and was fighting the label of being just a slow pocket passer. He improved his 40 time from 4.8 to 4.5 and now is being labeled a running quarterback.

Just because The Golden Calf of Bristol played over him does not mean he was a better quarterback. Looking at The Golden Calf of Bristol best season against Cam's only season with less talent, shows who the better talent was.

Well you guys act like The Golden Calf of Bristol is a bust. He started three games last year. Had 8 td's (3 rushing) and 3 int's. 217 yards passing per game. 66 yards rushing per game.

Stretch that across 16 games that is 43 (27 passing 16 rushing) touchdowns, 16 int's, 3,472 passing yards, 1,060 rushing yards. Hell he would have made the pro bowl!!!!

He did have a 50% completion percentage which is low but will likely improve as he gets more experience.

So what's the point??

He had a longer delivery with less rpm's and less accuracy.

Cam has a much stronger arm, more compact, higher RPM's, and is more accurate (although he needs to get more accurate.)

I like Andy Daulton too, but historically QBs taken after the first round don't pan out. QBs taken in the second round have a fail rate @90%. It would be riskier taking Cam number 1.

If any of you were watching the combine coverage on NFL network, Cam was asked about the stolen computer incident, 4 counts of cheating at UF, and instances of stealing from teammates' lockers. His response? "I do not want to talk about the past. I am only interested in the future." Later, when asked about the computer and cheating again, he said, "If I had to do it over again I would. Because I learned from it and I would not do it again." What?

"I am only concerned about the future" will not be enough of an answer to the teams who will ask for specifics. They are too.

Giving Cam a break: He did mention that he knew he would have to work hard because Peyton and Tom Brady work hard and they are limited athletes (complimenting their work ethic).
