Ekwonu doesn’t get dog walked under 2 minutes in the 4th, we drive, kick a FG and win

I think the thing that stands out the most is that people keep having to find other people's mistakes to justify why Bryce Young doesn't win or play well.

Because other strating QB's in the NFL have ample adversity and somehow manage to overcome it on not such a rare basis. Untimely penalties, drops, defensive lapses, bad calls, etc. Also, they get heat for consistently failing to win, even with this situations.

But it's always not Bryce's fault for even being in those bad situations in the first place. Boy it's funny how that works out....

Lef tackle is the BLIND side for right handed QBs. That's why they get paid so much. If your LT is getting dog walked into the QB in 2 seconds, that is not the QB's fault. Geez people. You would only say that about Bryce Young. Truth is Chase was beating Ickey like a drum all game - against the run and the pass. It wasn't speed rushes either. He overpowered him all day. Bryce basically escaped multiple sacks throughout the game. Dalton would have gone down at least 7 or 8 times yesterday, including that play.

Icky didn't do well on the play, but I find it hard to believe Bryce doesn't at least sense that pressure from Chase Young in his periphery. With the area of the field he is looking + Moton blocking his guy and forcing him into a deep pass rush, I don't know how Bryce doesn't see the 20 yards of open space directly in front of him.... Like 90% of QBs recognize that open space and immediately run

All of this.

People mention that Ickey penalty in the first or second quarter. I’ve seen a few say that stopped all our momentum, and was a reason the offense couldn’t get going. If all it took was that to completely stymy Bryce and the offense, then the QB and offense isn’t very good. Now, it was a boneheaded play, but that happened in the first half. Your QB has to be able to move on from that

Another thing is the sacks. Once Bryce takes a sack, or we get a penalty of any kind, then that drive is over. Bryce and the offense cannot overcome it. On that last 4th quarter drive, I knew we weren’t going to do anything with the football, but after the sack, I knew it was wrap. The Saints are in Bryce’s head, and he’s a QB that has to build up confidence. Hell, Tampa is in his head. He’s 0-4 against them. That’s why I can say with confidence we won’t sweep them.

This truly has been a recurring theme this year. Once we get to 1st and 15 or worse, it's a guaranteed punt or turnover

No sir! I call it when he makes a bad play or has a bad game over all. That is not on the QB. He avoided that same pressure the play before and after, but expecting your QB to be superman and hide other players getting beaten that badly that fast is not realistic. For any QB.

Dumping on Icky to cover for our #1 pick being outplayed by a rookie is such embarrassing foolishness.

Not holding your 1st round LT to the same standard is equally as embarrassingly foolish. Like what QB in the league avoids every rush like that? Every time? That's not realistic. In the same game, Shough got caught up in the trash a lot more than that. And the rush wasn't nearly as fast.

He. Has. The. Highest. Paid. OL. In. The. Entire. League.

Nobody is absolving Icky for getting penalized.

But Icky is not the face of the franchise. Icky is not currently the third highest paid player on the team. Icky did not get outplayed by Tyler Shough who was sacked 5 times and consistently harassed by our DL.

We aren't going to agree. It's fine. Good day sir!

Frank! The highest paid contract on the oline isn't even playing! They couldn't move the LOS in the run game and constantly allowed pressure against the pass. I don't care how much they're paid. Remember we paid a guy at LT who was the Center's brother. He was the highest paid lineman on the team, offense and defense, and he was the worst.

Shough played really well in my opinion. Particularly for a rookie. But if you didn't see him get bailed out of a ton of bad passes by his receivers, then I don't know what to tell you either.

I don't mind disagreeing. Have a wonderful day as well.

Bryce was sacked one time and that didn't happen until what late in the 4th quarter?

Shough was throwing into tight windows under duress all through the first half my man.

The proof is in the pudding.

Bryce hasn't been Superman. He has largely been Lois Lane.

Cool. So what about the paltry production, missed reads and general ineffectiveness that led to us being down at that point which was largely.....Bryce Young's fault?

    • I'm sorry but I don't agree.  Maybe a win but will not be in the playoffs.
    • 1.) Panthers have been alternating wins and losses. Which means we are gonna win against Tampa twice and make the playoffs. 2.) No new injuries coming out of last night that I am aware of. We are very healthy compared to other teams and if we get Hunt back that would be amazing. 3.) Maybe that loss ticked them off enough to take it seriously and play disciplined. Put in the extra time because you are running out! 4.) We cannot afford to let up through the remainder of the year unless we win the next two and Tampa loses to MIA. I did not like idea of people resting. Just look what happened after the bye. 5.) Even if we do not make it to the dance, the guys are getting playoff experience right now. If we are close but just miss it, they can pack that feeling up and into next season. Maybe we can continue to retain critical pieces at an affordable rate if they want to run it back. 6.) We are set up better as far as salary cap/dead money next year compared to the last several years. Tillis and Morgan will get to play some. 7.)  ATL is unsettled at QB position and will have a new coach. TB may be at end of window. NO honestly seems like biggest problem to me but hopefully the salary cap situation there will continue to hamstring them. 8.) Our rookie class looked really good, should see a lot of production from them in Year 2. Year 3 of Morgan/Tillis should see us be able to fill the remaining holes. Next year is really the year we would be on schedule to do something.
