I think what might be overlooked is that Missouri, previously home to 2 teams, now has 0. If I were part of group trying to lure a team to St. Louis, or land an expansion team, I would be leading off with that exact reason why it would be crucial to grant NFL fans in Missouri a team they can call their own.

But couldn’t the situation also be viewed as, “Hey, Missouri, you’ve now had three chances (twice in StL and once in KC) to make it work through some partnership with the NFL teams concerned to build new stadiums. You’ve failed all three times. Sorry, not sorry.”?

Don't disagree with that at all. Not so sure it would fly though.

The Rams departing for a return to LA can be portrayed as unfair, and even rigged or manipulated. Everything was tied to the stadium being ranked in the top percent of buildings, and it was setup for them to have an escape clause. The league always wanted them in LA. The Cardinals leaving years and years ago is now ancient history.

I don't care either way. I really don't. I have never lived in that part of the country, and I never will, but they certainly have a claim to be made on getting a team again.

The move across the border has nothing to do with expansion. The fact will be that the state of Missouri, previously home to 2 teams, will no longer have a team at all.

Any expansion will require not 1 but at least 2 teams to balance the conferences and would eventually need to be as high as 8 teams in order to keep divisions even.  Adding a single team would be a scheduling nightmare.

It’s hard enough filling 32 rosters with NFL level talent.  Watering that down even further would hurt the product.

Id rather see a D-league system to develop more players.

STL is not going to be in the running now lol. The new Chiefs stadium will sit on the border of each state supposedly, probably officially addressed in Kansas City too (just Kansas side). They're not moving it to the middle of flat fields Kansas somehwere.

Yeah, this is the equivalent of the Panthers moving to Rock Hill.

A further problem would be more teams to share the money around. It’s one reason why some feel persuading NBA owners to accept two new teams will be difficult because they go from 1/30 to 1/32 in revenue.

Will expansion happen? I’m not sure, but if the money keeps growing and they continue to expand into new markets, then I suppose expansion can’t be ruled out in the future. I suppose a number of teams would need to be added to maintain balance; however, there have been uneven numbers at times in the past, so they could schedule around it.
