You fashion forward huddlers have some fancy autocorrect going on lol.

He makes a lot of sense for more than a few reasons.  I've mentioned it before- he'd be the defensive FA that I would target if he fits with what we want.

I'm not too familiar with Chenal so this might be a lazy question.....

Would a Chenal signing be any similar to us giving Turk a big contract? An under appreciated fringe starter in KC that teammates and front offices love and envision them taking off in a new city.

He was more of a role player behind two studs in Bolton and Tranquill but managed to get more snaps in and impressed a lot. 1 injury in 4 years which closed him up in December.

Definitely a guy who was touted early on looking to become a starter for a team. Good setup for us. And him, Turk and Tillis overlapped/should know each other. Could be a pulling factor, who knows.

I'm always open to 25-year old players from SB winning franchises that are stuck behind strong veterans.

Me too--and I really like the ILBs in the draft.  My only concern is this:  Edge and OT are $20+m in free agency and their isnt much there--I think we have to go OT / Edge in the first two round--and possibly WR in round 3...ILB and S are available in free agency and their price tags are much lower.  We have to re-sign Nijman, I would think, maybe BC, and I think we will let Mays walk.  So I dunno.  Makes my brain hurt.

First, Rozeboom is 28 years of age (in his prime).  He had his best year at Carolina in 2025--for that reason, he might be inclined to stay if we give him an offer.  Will he want a starter's contract?  His PFF score was a 47. I noticed this about his play when observing.  He is often the last person to take a step after the snap.  That could mean that his coaches were correcting a habit like taking a false step.  No step is better than a false step.  However, Luke was stepping before the snap on many occasions, and the difference is not really the number of tackles, but where (in relation to the LOS) they took place.

I think Wallace and Rozeboom (if we can get him for $4m or under) would be adequate depth.  I think we need a free agent to add to the room, a player like KC's Leo Chanel.  KC is in cap hell, and Chanel was not a 3-down LB.  Here, he would get paid, join an ascending team, and start.  

Our LBs with Chanel (PFF SCORE 75 on 440 snaps) would be Chanel, Rozeboom, Wallace, Cherelus, and Martin-Scott.  I am guessing the cost of free agency would be about $10-12m for Chanel and Rozeboom.  If we did this, we might be OK at ILB, although I really like some in the draft. 

Personally,  I think we need a stud starter, but Chanel is 25 and could be that person. 

I like how OP is being reasonable on the free agents. Not just reaching for the absolute cream of the crop guys.

      take a  look around the league at other young Qb's such as Drake Maye , Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix , CJ Stroud  & Caleb Williams who at the time like Bryce Young they also were drafted by teams with a losing record .the only difference with these Qb's is after joining their teams with a losing record they led those same teams to a winning record in a very short period of time .it's simply what you call a game changer & or elite Qb's & then take a  look at  the other side of the coin you have Qb's such as Trey Lance, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones, Justin Fields  & Anthony Richardson also like Bryce Young all first round picks who instead of winning either did not play or led their teams to a losing record while playing  Bryce Young who has an overall record of 14-30 & wildly inconsistent & never in the history of the NFL has a Qb 5'10" or shorter had a successful carrer as Qb in the NFL  if anything history is telling you exactly what ?..just saying

      to me these two signings were so bad for the Panthers at the time of our young team. "Sean Gilbert was signed by the Carolina Panthers on April 21, 1998, after being traded from the Washington Redskins in a deal that sent the Panthers two first-round picks (Nos. 5 and 12) to Washington. The Panthers then re-signed Gilbert to a 7-year, $46.5 million contract extension on the same date"  The other was Jason Peters being picked in the First round of the 1998 draft.
