I agree but trading back kinda sucks as well because the last 3 years we have been trying to accumulate core players. We kinda have that core built. Now we just need playmakers, guys who can impact games. We don’t have that. Maybe Dan goes after that in Free Agency and more depth in the draft.

In theory when I say trade back its get a first for next year and another 2nd for this year.  Not likely but I would keep my options open.  I dont think the talent level is any different at 19 as it would be in the middle of the 2nd.  I think another first for 27 would have us sitting pretty on many levels, damn look at the rams in this draft they are loaded

A tackle is a tackle or a guard? Confused.

If you are joking ha ha, if serious I certainly didn’t mean to confuse you. Almost every single OL spot could be open in the next two seasons. C, both Ts and Hunt’s spot at 20 mil per season. All could turn over. We need bodies.
Plenty of examples of tackles moving to guard in the NFL out of college. T drafted to be guards or failing at T in the NFL and being moved there.
Andrew Whitworth played G multiple seasons before permanently switching to T.

Of course, I am thinking we can add 2 needs via free agency, but until then, you don't know your top three needs and it is pointless to talk about the draft based on needs before free agency in March.

I think we bring in vets at WR and Edge, re-sign Rozeboom & Mays (and/or Corbett) for depth, and draft OT, ILB, and C in the first 3 rounds (as long as there's someone available who isn't too much of a reach) .

Since you all have been sending me Emails, texts, phone calls, telegrams, and smoke signals, I will provide you with a tidbit of a prediction.

Yes, the Utah OTs are studs.  Both could be gone by 19.  Slightly lesser well known is this:  The Texas A&M OTs are studs as well, only not as good at run blocking (as a duo).

Prediction:  We will draft, at some point, an OT from Utah or (more likely) Texas A&M.  Round 3.

Prediction #2:  Morgan will fall in love with LB Golday (Cincinnati).  Round 2?

Prediction #3:  I am not a Tex A&M fan, but I think we will have a Panther Aggie or two on our roster in late April.  Cashius Howell is not as big as Scourton or Jones III, but he has a first step that makes him a needed pass-rushing specialist.  Clemson Edge TJ Parker could be the first Tiger taken in Carolina--since our first rounders are commonly from the carolinas, it seems, of late.  If we don't bring in a veteran edge in free agency, I see one of these two becoming Panthers--if we don't take a tackle--in round 1.  Lotta IFs, but it is February, dammit.

Prediction #4:  We could draft a player who played OT in college but was found to have short arms at the combine to be our future C.  Parker (Duke), Bowry (BC) are possible day 3 additions who could transition from OT to C.

That is all.  I have spoken.

If we wait until round 2 for an OT, we probably need to sign Nijman and start him early.

I almost think this is what we should do if Lomu is gone.  There is a big dropoff after him, imo, and I think we'd get better value if a stud ILB or edge is there.  Someone like TJ Parker Clemson makes sense. If Lomu is gone, trading back might be the play.

Re-signing Nijman is a good idea even if we go OT at 19. He's adequate and knows th schemes already. Would be a nice veteran presense.

At ILB, I really like Deonte Lawson from AL, but he likely goes before 51 and would likely be a reach at 19.

WR is by no means a priority this offseason we have enough invested there and have a certified #1 in Tmac and a solid #2 in Coker personally I don’t hate XL as the #3 and am hopeful he can develop a bit and just avoid his bone headed mistakes. FS is a definite need,  Moerig is a textbook SS, and just optimistically hoping if we had a true center fielding FS maybe just maybe Evero would play a bit less off coverage knowing we had somebody deep with true range and not Nick Scott.

Hopefully Ransom continues to develop, but he fits the mold of SS more than FS anyway.

I wouldn't mind spending a draft pick on FS if the right guy is available. Certainly after round 3.

Given that the immediate impact we need at edge. We almost certainly address that in Free agency, not in the draft. Same with Linebacker, unless Styles or Allen is still there at 19. I think the same for OT.

What is the position that we could draft in the 1st round and get immediate help in the first is how im approaching their decision-making

I know ill get dragged for this, but im thinking they go DT in the first. A guy that can play right away and be a complement to D.Brown to wreak havoc at the LOS.

So unless a top tier LB is there, I think DT will be the move.

No hate at all if we can get a stud DT that can get after the QB. Pressure is pressure. and D. Brown is doubled every damned play!
