Drafting a G after signing two for 150 mil, yeah I think you can skip a year.

And I am about as sold on the game being won up front as anybody.

Draft a guard? No. Center. We needed one with Corbett and his injury history and lack of playing the position. Mayes was green. Usually though, you don't have a top tier contract tackle followed up by 2 big guard contracts. That's a lot of dough in 3 roster spots.

Even still, after Hunt and Lewis, churning the back end the roster wasn't/isn't a bad thing. UDFA or a late rounder on a multi-positional player. Just one of those places that piling up fodder isn't going to end badly for you, just based on attrition.

Yeah I get it. I just said guards because we had been weak there and teams go through a lot of them. And I was lazy.

I could understand thinking with those new guards maybe you’d be okay being a little less than good at C. And I have just always thought, right or wrong, that they did not want a brand new offense and this overwhelmed kid at QB to have to rely on a rookie at C making the calls and all that.
My dad was a 4 year college C so I heard a little about it. Mostly funny stories about what he did wrong more than bragging but I appreciate having a good C and would have been happy with - was it Frazier? Whoever they passed up for Brooks.

They are not gonna get it all right decisions every time especially being new, and I think they may be wanting to fix that spot now, let’s hope.

Corbett is a free agent. We dont really have a center at all. Seems fairly likely we resign Mays despite the talk.

I'd actually be willing to trade XL for JPJ from the Raiders. He was the top center before Frazier we skipped over to take XL. He was in the dog house for some reason under Carroll. They've both been disappointing for the teams that drafted them. Raiders need a WR and we need a C. I think it could be a good move to get new scenery for both.

I haven’t looked at the guy and wasn’t even aware of him but that is interesting. Need to figure out why he was in the doghouse. No sense trading one problem for another.

Dalton played well against them two years ago, teams always like guys that do that. Trade him over there too.

edit: lol I am imagining XL in Las Vegas.

He was moved from center to guard, then got in the dog house. Looks like their Kubiak really likes him though he announced today. Probably wouldn't be able to make that trade now. I was wanting to trade for him last year before the deadline while he had pissed off Carroll.

That is kind of why I said guards too. Hell many played tackle but are drafted to be guards or were taken as tackles and failed so ended up at G. And obviously are at times converted to C also. They are kind of the catch all OL position.

Also worth noting. The Seahawks were 23rd in OL spending for 2025.

They also have a stud LT and have drafted 10 OL in the past 4 drafts. We drafted Iky and Zavala. They drafted two 1st rounders, both of whom were foundational starters on the SB winning team.

It doesn’t matter how much you spend if you drafted 4 starting OL on your SB winning team in 4 drafts.

We had to pay a ton for our OL because instead of drafted 2.5 OL every year including half your 1st round picks, we decided Iky and Zavala in 4 drafts was enough investment.

I forgot about Mays, but suffice it to say Seattle invested in their OL and it paid off with 4 starters on rookie deals.

Spending a 1st on a desperate need and 2 day 3 picks in 4 drafts is why we had to pay a ton and still be paper thin to injuries and potential FA loss.
