I’m just saying. That is where things are with the media and the fan speculation. I pretty much agree with you.

We do have Luke and Morgan that have some knowledge.  I mean, I can’t imagine a world that Dan and Luke haven’t had some conversations. Along with our coaches.
They might surprise us.

I would be with most others, very disillusioned with Morgan if he fugs up the LB decisions.

I watched the GOAT royally fug up everything with the Hornets so I don't put a whole lot of stock in people that played should know better

Today will be telling.

Don't get me wrong - I hope we land a solid LB, but I just don't want to see over-our-ski shenanigans.  Feel like Tillis is a sound mind in our FO so hope the steadiness of his approach wins out.

I want to believe Tillis is that type but I’m willing to bet he was the driving force between the Wharton deal which is scary to think about if that’s the case

Good point but did Michael pay his dues like Dan has by being a grunt in a personnel/scouting wing of an NFL team?
(He has worked at this for years, Jordon wrote a check. still, I hear you)

I expect more from Dan when it comes to defense, and especially linebacking.

If you are saying Tillis wanted Wharton, that is what I thought too.  The KC connection.

Yeah, I'm sure there's guys he fawns over that we could get a bit overly aggressive for.

That Wharton/Jones combo signing was a bit much / an overcorrection from the Milton miss.  Defense was improved but those two didn't really contribute THAT much...now taking up $28 mil in space this year.  They better contribute in 2026.

It shows - the FA overpays for second contract guys can seem appealing at times given age and production, but last year was overkill.  And they're FAs for a reason.

That’s crazy. That is probably most undeserving inclusion I can remember.

I am kind of rooting for him, but I would’t dream of advocating for him and using ‘he made the pro bowl!’ that’s for sure. I am not really advocating, just for whatever reason am pulling for him - I guess because he was treated so badly. Despite his silver spoon background.

I really don't even think he was treated that badly. I just think there was a massive disconnect between the media hype and how the media perceived him as an NFL prospect and how he was actually perceived by the NFL. I wouldn't be surprised if it's not a similar thing with Arch Manning. When I watched Shedeur I saw a really good college QB who was fun and exciting to watch but who just didn't have the tool set to be drafted as a starting NFL QB. I said forever that forget #1 overall, this guy isn't a 1st round prospect. He looks like a typical mid-round flyer type QB pick. With Arch, I don't even see a good college QB. I see a guy largely being carried by a great roster. We'll see if he develops next year but that throwing motion is a mess which is shocking from a Manning and it's really impacting his ability to generate velocity and be consistent with accuracy. If he was in this year's draft I'd honestly expect him to go around the same area of the draft that Shedeur did. They're starting the hype train back up again but based on what we've seen so far I think it's nuts to be talking about this guy as a likely Heisman winner and #1 overall pick. Basically, now I know why Texas was sticking with Ewers when they supposedly had this slam dunk generational prospect riding the pine - Ewers was simply better.

Chenal was the one Tillis should’ve banged the table for if he was hellbent on landing a player from KC

Totally, I've mentioned that before as well.

Chenal was moved around with Tranquil and Bolton as primary ILBs and was used for blitzing a lot.  They even threw him on the line sometimes.  But when he had to fill in at ILB, he played great.  So, the only thing is I'm unsure if he'd be fitting with Evero.  But I would love to see Chenal happen.  Think he fits pretty well with WAS.

The more film I watch on Lloyd, the more I hope we avoid him. He’s extremely slow and clunky. Had to look up his combine 40 time to see if I was crazy. He ran a 4.66 which confirmed my thoughts. Fwiw Leo Chenal ran a 4.53. Devin Bush ran a 4:43  He was often in the right place at the right time. Feasted on horrible throws and tipped balls. I hardly ever saw him on the field on 3rd down. I’m praying we don’t sign him.

It's a conversation about paying him more than Roquan Smith.  I wouldn't qualify that as "potshooting".  Just some opinions on what we think.  Nothing more, nothing less.

Right?

Go look at his snap percentages too. Watch most 3rd down plays and he’s not out there. Lloyd was so up and down. They declined his 5th year option for a reason

Those PFFgrades are so misleading with him

I see nothing that says he isn’t going to be a liability on 3rd downs

At one point I was one of the people suggesting we trade a pick for him because he had fallen out of favor in Jax and I figured they’d trade him for a late rounder

Lloyd has some strengths but he’s not someone you can pay 20 million for

The guy is about to be set for life regardless. He sure isn't being victimized by anyone on the huddle. Put away the violin okay?

    • Phillips was ranked No. 2 in The Athletic's top-150 free agents and was the second edge rusher behind Trey Hendrickson. This is a major investment in Phillips, who turns 27 in May. He was a 2021 first-round pick by the Miami Dolphins, who traded him to the Philadelphia Eagles in November for a third-round pick----     Jaelan Phillips  entered the 2026 NFL Free Agency period as one of the most coveted defensive players on the market, frequently ranked as a top-3 edge rusher and a top-10 overall free agent.     Efficiency: Despite only recording 5.0 sacks in 17 games, he finished 4th in the NFL in pressure rate (18.8%) among edge rushers with at least 250 snaps.   Total Pressures: He recorded 73 total pressures, which ranked 9th among all edge defenders in 2025.   Career Stats: Entering the 2026 season, he has accumulated 28.0 career sacks.
    • I am pretty sure we need a new punter.  Come on Morgan!!!
    • The risk is a concern, but every player who steps on the field is at risk.  Part of it.  No fan of the price, but I wanted him back when Hendrickson was the talk.  Then I got off Edge altogether, thinking we could not afford edge.  Tired of all this winning.
