its like a weapon tho. I think there should be the same amount of padding on the outside as the inside.

plus I seen one new idea-

i mean a lot of people say a lot of things about their equipment, but at the end of the day we don't have a lot of reliable live action data on concussions in game because, well...

This one worries me. Good talent. Great motor. But not too impressive stats and a plethora of injuries and the best ability is availability and they just threw a ton of money at him a lot guaranteed.

If he plays 14 plus games each year then great but if he gets a major injury...

We have $55 mill tied up in 2 injury prone defensive players

@fitz

what do think of these- https://safrsports.com/safr-helmet-covers/

so just glancing at this which is the closest thing I've found to an actual study

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11511751/

it seems like they're doing their best to recreate impacts in a controlled environment a football player receives, then designing helmets that dissipate the force from those impacts. Just off the top of my head the main questions I would ask are

1. how accurate are the lab conditions to real life and

2. how do you account for those differences

so it's obviously honorable and worthy research I just don't know how meaningful it is to the actual game. Especially when players are coached to fake different injuries (guy gets up from an obvious concussion and all his team mates are telling him to rub his shoulder) or your dumbass running back will just throw the blue tent open and drag your obtunded qb back onto the field

As of March 9, 2026, the highest contract in Carolina Panthers history by total value belongs to outside linebacker

 (CB): $100 million (2025–2029)

  • A four-year extension signed in March 2025 with $70 million guaranteed.
  • At the time of signing, it made him the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history by average annual value ($25 million).

remains the franchise leader in total career earnings from the team, having been paid over $127 million across his tenure. Other major historical deals include

Taylor Moton's
2021 extension worth roughly $71.25 million and

Christian McCaffrey's
 2020 extension worth $64 million.

largest contract in panther history.......Dan you are making this difficult to defend you.....I was no fan but burns didn't have ACL, arch, core, ankles and concussions history and you didn't want to sign him.......ugh.

We tried that method last season. Didn't work out too well for us.

I’m sure he’ll settle in and his numbers will be better. I’m just cynical with his injury history and his sack numbers aren’t great.

Given our cap and needs, I would have preferred giving the money to Leo Chenal and a veteran pass rusher (Bradley Chubb/Bosa) to address both positions of need.

Yeahhhhh...we definitely overpaid...Eagles were offering him 20 mil a year...knew we would have to overpay for talent but this sorta confirms what I believe going into this offseason...

I think this is a do or die season for Canales/Evero/maybe Morgan

He's definitely Evero's type of OLB that can set the edge though.  And he can pass rush and isn't a one-trick pony.

I think we overpay Devin Lloyd next now

Morgan is brain damaged.. Between he and Tepper we have to hope for dumb luck for this team to ever be good I think.

contracts will always go up just because the cap goes up.

pass rush, QB, LT are the premium positions and they'll always get record setting contracts

now is this is the pass rusher to set that? eesh. i mean this is definitely the panthers top 2 or 3 need but man i dunno about this.

    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
