Cooper is a slot receiver and though we need one the 1st round is too high. The tackles are deep in the 1st round but after that it's just guys converting to guard in the nfl. I think there are 4 true tackle prospects on day 1 so it will depend on who's left when we pick. If none of them are then I would consider CB or S as that is probably the best available for us and helps the team more than a slot receiver at this time.

There is like one pro-ready tackle according to most scouts, and even his arm length has been in discussions, as well as Fano's and Proctor's. Fano basically has 32" arms (my goodness!). The optimal arm length is 34 inches.  When Rashawn Slater came in, he had short arms, but was technically elite. The closest one to him, who is technically sound is Mauigoa. All the others have work to do. When you add it all up, they may have to move to guard. The only one that I think is a slam dunk to play left tackle is Freeling, though Miller has that possibility but will likely stay on the right. Either way, there is a huge possibility, if not a downright likelihood, that neither would unseat our projected starters during the coming season.

Lastly, for all this "potential crisis" talk about tackles, the 2027 class is expected to be strong and deep.

I fact checked this before posting, it is true: the 2027 class helps nothing in 2026.

On to opinions… 2027 tackle class is strong and deep. So is the QB class.  What do you think we’ll take first, if we wanted both? T or QB?
Because if Bryce doesn’t tighten it up considerably in 2026 they would be nuts not to be drafting a QB. And that cuts you out of drafting a pro ready tackle. Which you will need to be pro ready.

And the chances we are looking for a new RT as well as L is fairly high, given Moton’s contract and expected decline. He is starting to wear down it looks like to me, and the price keeps going up. After 2026, it might be time to move. Durability wise, cap wise, 2027 may require it.

There could be a lot of bills coming due at once, I’d just as soon sacrifice the WR party this year for some security.

If Icky hadn’t gone down, this wouldn’t even be a thing. But it happened and it is a thing.

Old man If is dead and stiff. But, to play the game, If Icky returns back up to par and if Walker is extended, and if Moton can play in 16 games  and if he is extended, and if we decide to sign one of the four expected free agent tackles, two of which who also grade in in the low 80s just like Moton and another in the mid 70s, then we'll be alright. I mean, all the "ifs" are ultimately born of speculation.

2026 is so far setting up to be better than 2025. People are positive about our chance of winning the division, and that's before they see what we draft later in the month. There's always more than one way to get to where you want to go.

And then the receivers don’t even have 1,000 yard seasons. Even XL had 1,200 in his final season. And then the “FIRST ROUND TE” TWENTY ONE yards per game in his career GOD DAMN that’s bad. They all might have to move to taking McDonald’s orders. At least 2027 will have Jeremiah Smith.

I mean, there are some solid receivers in the draft, but not necessarily elite ones from a historical standpoint.  Concepcion was productive though: 919 receiving (61 catches), 456 returning (2 TDs), and 75 rushing (10 carries). The dozen TDs total was solid as well. Projection, chemistry and scheme fit in evaluation comes into play maybe a little more this offseason.

One great thing about Concepcion is that he’s been balling since day 1 as a freshman. That’s always a great sign of an NFL caliber talent. If you’re “that dude” you show it immediately once you step on campus at the college level. So the complete opposite of XL.

KC Conception rankings :

PFF: #35

Dane Brugler: #21

Matt Miller: #34

Daniel Jeremiah: #29

Eric Edholm: #21

The more I see of him, the more I like him. Conception will be there when we pick @19, but the real question for the front office is whether they value him more than the top OT, CB, or safety options. TE Kenyon Sadiq will likely be gone before their pick, and there isn’t a DT worth taking at 19.

Look at what the Bears have done with Caleb Williams, drafting playmaking WR's and TE's and making it easier for him to operate the offense. Conception is perfect for what the offense needs (speed and someone who can make defenders miss) and as today, April 11th, I think he's the pick @19

I agree. In a perfect world I wouldn’t want to draft another WR, but in this draft it’s fine based on the value of who will be there at #19.  All of the top tier guys worth pick #19 at other positions of need will be long gone. Only exception is Dillon Thieneman, but he’s almost a shoe in for the Vikings as the Harrison Smith replacement. Some posters on here want to draft an OT just to check a box without realizing the concerns and risk that comes along with said player. Sounds like XL to me… desperately drafting need… KC is a pretty safe player.  Produced all 3 years in college and last year in the SEC vs a lot of top corners in this years draft. He single handily dropped the South Carolina CB Brandon Cisse’s draft stock with how bad he abused him.

Sometimes it’s best to try and hit a double instead of going for the home run. This draft screams “go for the double”. Esp in the first.
