Im getting kind of sick of this. Bryce is a stater. He doesnt put up elite numbers but he has proven he can play. The question is what is that worth?

And you only have 2 options to that question.

1. Pay him top 5 QB money.
2. Release him and start over.

Or do what the Dolphins and Cardinals did and do both.

Disagree. They weren't propping up the QB by improving the OG position coming off what we saw in 2023. They were addressing an obviously horrible position group that didn't allow them to even run the offense. Even drafting XL was an attempt to address an obviously horrible position group. Drafting Brooks was to address a position that consisted of Chuba Hubbard only. And we know catching has always been his Achilles heel. They were improving what they thought were the biggest weaknesses on the team. Who knew Derrick Brown would get injured in the first game of the season and the entire defense would fall apart.

And no one was coming in to Carolina and making them respectable those first 2 seasons. QB isn't played in a vacuum. That's why Brady left the Patriots and went to Tampa to win a Super Bowl. His coach was starting to give him the Cam treatment.

I don’t want to spend a spend a ton of time here but can’t let this pas without saying something.
That is revisionist.
We finished 6-6 under Wilks before Bryce.
we added Bryce to the mix and ended up with the number one pick. Sank to the bottom. And fast. And stayed  there.  It took 3 years and untold picks and money to climb back to that 6-6 record that Wilks achieved  with that ‘dumpster fire’
He is the main one who made us a dumpster fire in 2023.
And this was even before Morgan turned his back on the defense.

Only real difference was DJ Moore wasn’t here and that was not nothing but people were talking playoffs in 2023 until they had a few week of Bryce.

Tepoer couldn’t get a coach that he wanted and a lot of that was who the hell wants to tie themselves to Bryce ? And an owner who wouldn’t dump him

Canales did pretty well considering but it was all hands on deck to save Young in that offseason

Zoolander could only turn right.  It’s more common than you might think.

They brought in two expensive OGs because they wanted to give him the Brees treatment - make sure the iOL is so strong that the pocket never collapses on him, because it's a bloodbath if he has to move from his spot.

If we do both like the cards and dolphins did, we will be screwed for years to come. I think I saw on Twitter Joe P speculated an extension would be about 33m a year. Still too much right now, he’s done nothing to deserve that. They need to wait until the season is over or pretty much over then decide what route to go.

Why would he agree to that?

They want to extend him, but if they were completely sold they already would have. I honestly think this season will determine whether Bryce gets:

1. A big money 'franchise QB' extension.

2. A middle-of-the-road (still expensive given the QB market) contract.

3. Traded after this season.

Time will tell, but I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that they plan to extend Bryce. Mostly because I think they would already have done so if that's the way they felt.

I'm not sure you can resign a number one pick for a middle of the road contract. Usually starting QBs who resign with the same team get big money

Huh? He isn't even a pure pocket passer. Actually may be better off schedule than on. Definitely more exciting out of the pocket. Could be height challenges - most likely. But he's also pretty elusive for a QB. No QB can play with immediate pressure up the middle. None. Ever. But I do agree that Dan overcompensated. That much on OGs is not wise. Particularly for a QB like Bryce that wants to escape the pocket.

I've seen him try to outrun an NFL DE. It's like watching a lion take down a gazelle - it's brutal.
