Looks like Cincy May Be A Trade Partner Now

I'd switch ones and take their second for Palmer. I'd throw in Clausen if they wanted him or not just to get rid of him.

Exactly what I've been thinking for a couple of weeks now. This would be a steal IMO. And it also makes a lot of sense from both team's perspective.

Except for the clausen part. I think he's still got some value.

I would trade picks + Palmer in a heartbeat, this guy still has some gas left in the tank, and would definitely be an above average stop-gap- the guy played on one of the most disfunctional teams in the league last year for Pete's sake

then we could maybe get Dareus, Peterson, or Green

Didn't see this when I posted the same thing. just to swap picks is to give them the equivalent of the 13th overall pick (trade value). You need the second rounder to make it a deal.

I would keep Clausen, but as the third QB. He still has a chance of turning things around if brought on slowly. (Elway sucked worse his first year).

But he is so goddamn ugly I just can't take it

Palmer is done being a good NFL QB. Just to remind everyone he had a worse QB rating than Jimmy Clausen when we played the Bengals last year. Not to mention you have to take on his massive contract.

The only way Cincy needs to be trade partners is if they want to give us #4, #35 and their first next year to move up to #1.

Good point with the contract, but as far as talent, we aren't doing better: McNabb, Volek, Kolb ? QB talent is not available via trades or free agency.

I imagine Palmer would rework his deal, but as he says, he could retire with $80 million..

Regardless, if we dont get Palmer, Cincy needs a QB. They know Buffalo wants one and may think we do. They also know we have other needs. Other teams could leapfrog CIncy and Buffalo and trade up with Denver. The only way to make sure you get one of the top 2 qbs is to deal with us.

I think the owner of the Bengals sits on Palmer, however. He will not trade him. Whem egos go public..

to hell with anything involving the #1 pick in a trade for palmer, i say. you can get better value moving out of the #1 pick assuming there are trade partners. this is the bengals we're talking about here, no need to give them a good deal when they'll take a bad one.
