DWill sign?

90% chance Dwill signs. I think CJ will be a 75% chance.

I think CJ is higher than that, given the defensive minds on the staff and the possibility that Marshall will not return... pass rush will be of the utmost importance.

One of our backs have to go.

Why? What a luxury to have talent that deep.

With Stewart and Goodson on rookie deals which are totally cheap, Williams would be the only big money back. We could sign him to a 6 year 36 million dollar contract with no problem. If you only guarantee 16 million of it and backload it with roster bonuses and bigger salaries at the end which he won't likely see, it could be very manageable. You might end up paying him 20 million of it over 3 or 4 years which would be a deal. The key is not guaranteeing all of it upfront and backloading it which we wouldn't have to pay if he wears down once he hits 30.

This. People tend to forget that Stewart isn't making big money. Yes, he was a 1st round pick, but the only 1st round picks that get the huge contracts are the ones that go in the top few picks.

    • He is saying players that get drafted mid to late first round end up in better situations because they typically go to better franchises.
    • I mean, I was accused of "simping" for the guy, so...The Huddle gonna Huddle. I guess people's feelings are genuinely hurt that McDermott got the axe. Like AI explained in the other thread, it's unfortunate, but he was the HC for players that underperformed time and time again during crunch time (much like B-more for Harbaugh). Even owners get tired sometimes and perceive that a change is needed. Coaches are generally the ones that are fired in these situations, especially when teams really are championship-caliber.
    • Talent aside that man took Carolina passing on him to heart and it would be awkward.
