Charles Johnson or Mike Rucker???

In our short history we haven't had many career panthers to compare other career panthers to. I was thinking about Rucker the other day since he was a player who hovered around average kind of flashing ability and then "broke out".

But the huge difference I think is that Rucker "Broke out" only when surrounded by exceptional talent. Johnson "broke out" being the only player on the entire line worth a damn.

I think without a doubt it's Johnson and not many people will disagree. I think he could be really special if he hangs on to whatever motivation got him to this stage. Because he has looked very good.

I think CJ will be great from here on out, and if we can get a stud DT that will only help him. But I think second city panther is right, A few more year's like 2010 and then we can start to see how CJ look's. He'll be fine, we still need that DT to cause havoc on the line to help CJ and all our DE's.

Johnson's been catching my eye since coming into the league in '07. He was a full time back-up in '08 & still came up with 6 sacks. '09 was a bit of a disappointment but '10 was awesome with 11.5 sacks. Let's say we draft DT Nick Fairley: if we can develop Hardy/Brown, we may have a new version of the '03 front four: Peppers, Buckner, Jenkins, Rucker -> Hardy/Brown, veteran DT, Fairley, Johnson.

Holy hell, the hype over CJ has gotten insane. He had one good half of one season and now he's Mike Rucker? Didn't Keary Colbert look good once too? Let's simmer down until he can do it more than once please.

how else is everyone going to get over their insecurities of Peppers leaving?
