Beason responds to Omar Kelly

Matt Moore and Jimmy Clausen are our qbs. I'm riding with them. The draft is a roll of the dice.

For the record, my opinion on player input toward roster choices is unchanged. Still, I found this interesting.

Curious though: All those who endorsed Beason's opinion yesterday, do you still do so?

Beason just opted to give the company line.....not much more. Actually, his QBs are Clausen, Pike, and Null aren't they?

Of course not, it doesn't fit their argument now, does it?

Thats the politically correct thing to say. What do you expect Beason to say "screw the guys on the roster i want the QB we dont have?

My question would be what made him say it.

- Did someone on the coaching staff or in the front office get upset?

- Did one or more of his offensive teammates see this as throwing them under the bus?

- Did Kelly misinterpret or misrepresent what Beason wanted to say?

Or did Beason just decide on his own that he wanted to say this?

Hard to say which is true.

Think about that for a moment, though.

If you're a Newton fan, is this the kind of "company line" you want to hear from the team?

Far as I can tell he didn't say who he did or didn't want us to draft in this one. He basically just said Jimmy and Matt are his guys. Which they are.

I don't think it is a company line I just think he realized he should stfu bc he has no idea who we are going to draft and didn't want to cause a rift in the lockeroom if we don't draft a QB or even if we do. Those guys are likely to be on the team and possibly starting. No reason to have people think you don't have faith in those guys.

But none of it matters because I called no take backs yesterday after he said it. So....

    • You know, there's something about this whole JAG thing that really just drives home the idea that to some folks, these players aren't real people, just names and stats.  Of course, it goes beyond sports. We're a sad, jaded species, us humans.
    • I hope we get no featured games, or only one if that's still a thing Don't like having to subscribe to a service just to see the panthers play a single game, i'm looking at you peacock Football is made for sunday afternoons Word
    • Yeah, it's just dumb. Everything is year to year. I never understood how anyone could stay engaged as a Kentucky fan or duke fan as duke became a one and done factory like Calipari made Kentucky. The thing I liked at about UNC is that we primarily focused on recruits likely to play multiple years. We'd have pur occasional one and done but most of our pros still played multiple years. And the days of the Stackhouses, Wallace, Jamison, Carter, etc. playing multiple years is just over. And now you have your role players entering the portal every year to test the waters elsewhere. I don't blame them for looking out for themselves but just personally speaking I'll run out of interest quickly trying to get to know a whole new roster year over year.
