I believe if Matt has the chance to compete for the the starting Qb position he will win the job. I really hope he excels, but then again I hope Jimmy polishes up his act too. Matt is quite a few notches above Jimmy in my opinion.

As long as we're happy with guys like Moore, we'll always be mediocre. It's time to do better. Easier said than done though.

Fact is, as long as his shoulder is healthy, he'd still beat out clausen and any drafted rookie.

People give that excuse for Clausen but Moore doesn't get the same pass.

I don't agree that "not even Manning could have won with last season's offense". Last season's offensive line was poor, but Moore's terrible play and Jimmy's terrible play exacerbated the problem. The difference is Jimmy had an excuse, he's a rookie. With our poor O-line and stupid play calling, Manning still could have won 8-10 games. The receivers did well enough, especially considering 2/3 of our real receivers were rookies. There were drops here and there, but the receivers weren't the ones holding the offense back by any means. The run game suffered a bit from the O-line too, but more so from the lack of any threat from the passing game.

Alright, seriously... time to let it go, guys. Matt Moore is NOT our starting QB and NEVER will be. He had his chance and blew it. That's it; it's over. If he is even re-signed it'll be as a backup, but even then I seriously doubt that he's in the organization's plans after last year.

I wanted him to play well too. I was rooting for the guy, but damn, enough is enough. He's shown what he is: a decent NFL backup QB, nothing more, nothing less.

Give it up already. You guys are worse than John Fox sticking with Jake and insisting he could still play despite ALL evidence to the contrary.

You do realize that at the end of the first half we had 83 yards rushing, right (18 carries, 4.6 avg)? It wasn't until the Giants doubled down against the run and made Moore beat them with his arm that the game turned around in their favor.

In the first half Moore went 7-14 for a whopping 82 yards. That does include a nice TD throw to Smith at the very end of the half (you know, the kind of play that Jake and Jimmy bashers always credit to the WR?). Overall though, his numbers were just awful.

Obviously someone on the Giants staff noticed that Moore wasn't playing well, so they made the game more about him in the second half. Teams did that to Clausen all year too, the difference was that Clausen was a rookie, not someone with three years experience in the system. You kind of expect more from the latter.

I'm sure some of it was inexperience at receiver. We won't ever know, but I'm betting that a rookie wasn't where Moore expected him to be on at least one occasion. But he was throwing to Smitty, Jarrett, King, and Rosario too--players he had years of experience playing alongside.

Of course, we had Davidson calling plays for us, and you know I've never thought much of him. Once we went down in the second half he pretty much abandoned the running game, as usual. (As an aside, I just loved looking at the game book and noticing that the minute we went down by 8 points in the third quarter, our play selection over the rest of the game went like this: pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, run, pass, pass, pass--the Jeff Davidson approach to dealing with a struggling QB).

There's hope that Moore is way better than he showed when the team was truly given to him. I like his arm, and I like his story (the whole UDFA thing). He did well in 2007 and sucked in 2008 (pre-IR play). Then he did well in 2009 and sucked in 2010. Maybe he plays well in odd years, huh? :)

I'm also not just talking about one game. Any qb will have a bad game here and there, specially when they feel the need to carry the team.

Yes, he was throwing to steve smith. But there was lil timing, as smith was out all of training camp due to his broken arm. They had 1, maybe 2 weeks of practice to get back into a rythem. The same rookies didn't even play two weeks in a row in preseason.

Rosario is the most inconsistent te on the team.

Nothing from preseason inspired me about the offense.

I find it amazing that you are judging moore from those games? And completely write off the the issues that surrounded the offense.

I've got more games of moore playing well, than I do of him playing bad. When watching them, it is painfully obvious the differences.

Moore's numbers were out of this world in his 4-1 stint. Not just good but stellar numbers and wins against great teams.

He will still get a chance to do it and we know he has the talent and ability.

He was also criticized for not letting Clausen pass enough.

This is the NFL and Clausen is an NFL ready QB. You learn the playbook and make the passes. No QB is ever going to say "he made me pass too much!"

I think the coaching staff gave up before the season began and just called lame duck plays. Both Moore and Clausen were affected by this disinterest.

I'd criticize Davidson for not properly timing the pass plays correctly.

Run, Run, Pass. When there were successful plays, he'd completely change the tempo. The tempo of play calling is too important of an advantage to let go so easily. We'd carve up a defense for like 3 successful pass plays and then back to old and boring run game for the defense to catch up before we tried another pass play which failed. Sometimes it's not the playcalling that needs to change, it's the tempo.
