If we can't reach a deal with Gross and Tag him, I will lose respect for Gross and how our office runs things. IMHO, it's not about having something lined up for Pep. This is all about Gross. He's the one we want. We can slap the tag on Pep with our eyes closed. This whole issue revolves around Gross. If we can't reach a deal with him we are forced to Tag him, thus letting Pep go.

"I hate to say this," said my attorney as we sat down at the Merry-Go-Round Bar on the second balcony, "but this place is getting to me. I think I'm getting The Fear."

- Hunter S thompson

And now, I'm getting The Fear, too.

This was also after he had huffed on a pint of raw ether....

I just can't imagine that scenario playing out.

Gross' agent said just a few days ago that the team and Gross wasn't even close to agreement on a contract, so do you suggest we let Gross hit the market while still trying to sign him. While franchising Peppers and trading him before hand.

The team has three options right now really.

Give in to gross and gets his deal done now.

Franchise gross and let peppers walk

Franchise peppers and let Gross hit the FA market and hope we can sign him.

If Gross is serious about playing here I can't believe we won't get something done. Since we are willing to franchise him for around 9 million, I can't believe money is the issue. We should be willing to pay him what he wants feeling that in a year or two it will be a bargain. I wonder if maybe Gross doesn't want to commit for more than a few years in the event the CBA isn't renewed.

If we want draft picks for Peppers we will need to franchise him. I expect drawing it out is still a negotiating tool and playing a high stakes game of chicken with Gross to see who will flinch.

    • I could be waaaaaaay off about Kon. I do fault myself into, to borrow a NFL phrase heavily "RAS" nerd on players, too much. There are PLENTY of athletic freak shows that are playing overseas(or Amazon delivery) cause they never figured out NBA ball. I can easily miss seeing the talent. Plus did he only have 2 dunks on the season??(is that for real??) I didn't watch over a few hours of duke, but not one point did I think "That Kon guy is a top 4 pick in the upcoming draft". IMO I still foresee Ball bringing the ball up, doing his weak isolation game and never even looking for Kon. That's his best trait according to everyone, shooting right? I do not see ball, bridges, miller or even williams making the extra pass to Kon for him to shoot a 3.  Then defense-wise, Im not ready to type the amount of questions I foresee in his ability for guarding NBA SGs or bench SFs for that matter. Not that NBA players care to defend, but still..... I just feel he's a bad fit for the current hornets, trades are taking place tho... Liam to me is a decent comp for Kon and he fell some, but was a 29 overall pick. Still around 13-21 was the good solid range for Liam and I thought the same for Kon. This is just a classic case of I need to see it. It add to this, Kon is like garlic. Ball is like sugar and Miller is like flour. Mix it together and chef Lee is not going to get me to eat that dish..... Honestly I don't know why Im this vocal about Kon. In past years I would be patience and not post and see what the kid has. The other side, insert classic white boy terms here- _____, ______, _______< etc >. Hornets do desperately need them. His crafty back door cuts, his willingness to stay a extra 2 hours to refine lees plays, keep playing with bruised limbs. I heard from many reports he's mentally tough and hornets by all gods need that. God they are such pussys.  I hope Im wrong and if so, I will give Kon his just props.
